    Pex plumbing connections

Put me down as one more for expansion with the Milwaukee M12 tool; I had the stainless pinch clamps and wayyyy prefer my expansion system. I bought my M12 tool on marketplace from a guy who did one job. Im keeping g it.. it is so much faster and easier than the old clamp system and is easier to...

36X48 Garage Build - AKA "I Love Debt" is Underway!

Allot of hand ringing for a building that is “fine” but not perfect, consistent with ever production built home in America! It will all be fine structurally! “Where’s it gonna go”. I would go around when they’re done and foam/caulk even the smallest gaps. I sure as hell wouldn't start accusing...

Insulating Above Grade CMU Stem Wall with Under Slab Insulation

That’s what the Z channel is for, attaching over foam; typically finish with drywall, but in a garage you could do 4 x 8 siding, CDX, OSB.. wtf

Insulating Above Grade CMU Stem Wall with Under Slab Insulation

I think your sketch is correct. FYI there is a Z-channel system you can use on the exposed wall. I have done two basements this way (one commercial one residential) and it is nice. I got the Z channel from drywall supply house and foam from insulation supplier (may be the same for you).

    Any speaker experts around?

That may just be your experience with crappy speakers and systems, they make alot of quality ceiling speakers, the OP thinks those are and I'm not gonna argue; JBL and others currently makes high fidelity 8" ceiling speakers. I had some (JBL or similar) I used to run in a rented shop that...

Garage Roof/Ceiling Framing Damage / Questions

It's not unusual and you don't need to re-engineer the garage, support pull back together and sister it with ample construction glue and screws. It would have never catostofically failed and "fallen on your head, Ive demolished numerous older hand framed wooden structures, you can't get them to...

    2 post lift questions

“The cables are usually adjusted when the lift is raised a couple feet off the floor.” (Mikedodge above) That was how I adjusted my used Rotary; I also adjusted it weeks(?) later after a few cycles of loaded operation as I noticed it was less equal (older cables with some set to them..) My...

    Any speaker experts around?

I think people confuse having more than two speakers with wanting it “loud”; having more numerous speakers throughout a larger space allows for more consistent sound levels at any level (very low to “medium”). With only 1 (bluetooth speaker) or 2 speakers your background music is inaudible from...

    Installing Metal Ceiling over Drywall

It would be best to put on furring strips, furring strips would be easier to hit and allow a little air movement between layers. But I could see me just laying right over drywall in a pinch. If you rarely use heat there is limited chance of condensation.

Here it is! Worlds most underwhelming shop!

I think for these “Texans” no (or poor) insulation makes the shop unusable for giant swaths of the year… you PNWer’s are just keeping the constant rain out!! 😂

Is my compressor pump wore out?

I think those older Sanborn compressors are marginal for high volume air tools; compressors are one of those things as soon as you get the affordable one you thought would work (if you really use it, particularly with air tools) you want a bigger one. I worked my way up to current 7.5hp 80 gal...

    Thinking Barn/house

Re: mortgage; they are considered a unique improvement; likely most lenders would lend; but it depends if the appraiser can find good comparables. Lenders and appraisal reviewers don’t want to see all cookie cutter conventionally framed comps to value a different type product (different typical...

Help with identifying compressor & parts

A number of old web post re that model number.. apparently an old inferior Ingersol line. Second post indicates a recall. Likely not worth rehabbing. https://www.hotrodders.com/threads/air-compressor-specs-and-general-info.81752/...
