I have one in the project stack for my bench grinders, buffers, sharpener, and 1x30 belt sander. I've already lengthened it, just need to design the mounts, mine is the newer style with a pair of parallel tubes.

A separator just keeps you from dumping the bag as much, you dump the separator vessel instead. It can also reduce damage to the impeller by dropping large pieces in the separator instead of passing though the impeller. A filter, or lower micron bag is a good thing too.

My Son had a 2 story house, had an attic area around most of the 2nd floor. One bedroom had a closet with a "bookcase" in it, it was hinged and opened to another similar sized closet. Looked like it was very easy to construct, and you would not know it was there unless you were told.

Most cabinets have a siphon pickup on the gun, they tend to be problematic. The "kit" adds to the bottom of the hopper and the gun now pulls off of the bottom, no siphon tube. In addition Mike made some solid suggestions on how to improve my cabinet, lowering the work surface for more area...

I have 3 Keters, use them all of the time, no issues. I've seen the Dewalt, not compelling enough to me to change directions. I'm 6'1" and don't think the Keters(fixed) are too short.

Got a surface cleaner a couple of years ago, the only issue I have with it, is that I didn't get one sooner... :)
