    My new Phoenix garage/shop build

I'm told that Phoenix requires a drywall nailing inspection these days. Is this common around the US, or even around the world? Not that it matters to me, just curious. The roofing is now completed, the outside walls are wrapped, foam sheeted and chicken wired, in prep for stucco. Insulation...

    My new Phoenix garage/shop build

The big question is still whether or not the City inspector will allow us to leave the Day Dream window in place. Obviously the City approved the plans and issued a permit, but he thinks it might have been an overlooked item. Thoughts, opinions??

    My new Phoenix garage/shop build

Wiring is going in now. Plus, I did a little hands on, installed an LED troffer from Costco in the storage crawl space. I used a piece of redwood trim 1-3/8" x 5/8", cut to fit the troff between the bulbs, then drilled three mounting holes. Mount the cleat/trim to the trusses, then the...

    My new Phoenix garage/shop build

Yeah, I would have liked a little bit higher ceiling, but I'm limited to a certain roof height by city code, 15ft. I think the 11ft will be fine though, I'm not building monster trucks, and certainly there are lifts for lower clearance ceilings. I'm also planning on having the garage door...

Last year I got engaged to a great gal, we fixed up my bachelor pad home of 11 years, to sell, as she has a larger, nicer property. And from dating for the previous 4 to 5 years, I kept thinking, there is a lot of untapped yard potential on the side and back yard for a nice shop. We talked...

    PIXI LED panel lights

Has anyone seen these PIXI ceiling/wall mount LED panels? If so, any thought on using them in the garage, thinking specifically the bathroom and hobby room with lower ceilings then the garage. A light source that only takes up about 1/2" of head room is VERY appealing. -Jon...

    Well I started young

Nicely done. I wish I had worked hard on my car hobbies at an earlier age. I started at 16, but it quickly tappered off for school and early career stuff, didn't get back to it until 28 or 29 years old. -Jon
