HELP FINDING 3/8 ARMSTRONG MAXX RATCHET!!!

They pop up on ebay from time to time, prices vary. There are some listed now, mostly 1/2 drive. They dont tend to last on there so you about have to check a couple times a day. The locking flexes are harder to find. Searching by each part number may yield better results at times...

    3/8" Flex Head Ratchet

With the Matco/Armstong style and the GW style to some degree, they have some resistance when unlocked, somewhere between a detented and a basic flex head (no lock or detent, just a pin/screw). The Snap-on's have their own style lock, I'm not sure if they can be left un-locked off hand. It's...

    3/8" Flex Head Ratchet

The tension can be adjusted on the yoke screw for tighter/looser, they usually swivel nicely though.

    3/8" Flex Head Ratchet

Locking flex is pretty much the same as a regular flex, except it locks the head at a particular angle or offset so it wont flex when you dont want it to. Typically has a switch of sorts built into the handle. It's handy when the angle you are working at is repetitive in motion and changing...

    3/8" Flex Head Ratchet

Locking flex over detented, though both are nice to have at times. I have a couple Gearwrench detented units in 3/8 and they get used enough to keep them, per say. A locking flex stays put when locked and there is benefit to it. When I use a detented flex head it's cause I want it to flex...

    Favorite 1/4" ratchet.

+1 for S-K's 40970, they are perfect. Matco (or Armstrong) locking flex's are the next favorite. I have a couple Snap-on roto's, dont use them much except for TPMS sensors. I did buy a TK72 from the Snap-on guy a while back on impulse, not really of fan of their 80 tooth but the little...

    Cutting fluid

Ultra lube works good, quite tacky. Great for threading but ok for drilling, depends on the situation as to what I'll use. https://www.harryepstein.com/ultra-lube-metal-cutting-lubricant.html I have used Rustlik concentrate in the past & still have some, good for drilling.

Best tools to clean all the rust from wheel hub when doing brake job? Roloc discs or wire wheels?

Pretty much any heavy rust can be removed with time, depending on the unit. I've got a larger Matco/IR unit and a smaller Blue point that's a bit worn from over use. I run them at shop air pressure, 145-150psi, so it's about 120-ish during use, no issues since new, about 5-6 years. They...

Best tools to clean all the rust from wheel hub when doing brake job? Roloc discs or wire wheels?

A needle scaler works well for this. Down side is smaller air compressors really dont supply enough air.

    Don’t do that!!

IME, the best way to end up with something broken, scarfed up or damaged to some degree is to loan it. How many have loaned a chainsaw and got it back after someone used 100% gas, not mix gas? FWIW, In a GM repair procedure for a wheel bearing replacement, you are to insert a screwdriver in...

    favorite wide (2.5"+) adjustable wrench

I've got a couple different options, though have not run into much that a normal 24" adjustable wrench wont handle. I've got a couple Diamond 15" "monkey" wrenches and a Ridgid hex wrench, I've got the 9-1/2", though they go bigger. Both were/are helpful with hydraulics...

    SnapOn KR 1000 question

8-688S is the number for the slide itself, per this link. May have to call Snap-on as the number doesnt work on their website like some others. https://www.iatn.net/forums/8/89416/snap-on-drawer-slides-kr1000a Minutes later....... I ran a search for detent on thier site and these look to be...

At what point do we add toolboxes?

I recently changed a couple things and upgraded some stuff, What I was using was a KRL1032 with KR537 top, Matco JSC773 full drawer cart and essentially a two shelf cart as a mobile work table. I also have a steel locker cabinet for boxed items & kits and similar. The cart never really got...

    M12 battery repair parts

The M12 batteries seem to break tabs on occasion for me, I've had a couple apart (3.0/4.0AH) and transferred part from a weak battery to one that is newer. I saw these replacement housings on ebay, there appears to be several sellers, all from china. Just curious if anyone has bought/used...

    Jiffy-tite connectors?

Some Ford's may use a different style fitting o0ther then jiffytite, I dont run into many that arent a flare nut or similar, depends on vintage. https://www.lislecorp.com/specialty-tools/39220-transmission-oil-cooler-disconnect-set-for-ford...

    SnapOn KR 1000 question

The detent in the large bottom drawer is riveted in, but they do offer a detent kit (or did, I had replaced them in '13, dont have the box anymore). It's like a round roller, rubber or similar material. New one get riveted back in. IIRC the drawer should come out like the others, there...

Flare nut and crowfoot flare wrenches

I use flare wrenches more then the flare nut crowfeet, so I'd still consider Snap-on for those, used or otherwise. That said, I do have a Carlyle set that has done ok for the most part. I also have 10mm & 12mm Snap-on open end/flare end wrenches. For the flarenut crowfeet, I've got a mix of...

    1/4" drive impact set

The Sunex looks to be a nice complete set. I have a Matco ADV 1/4 impact set I got at a pretty decent price, It's probably re-badged Sunex just like Napa's impact stuff (which I have a lot of).

Which socket sensor kit to buy?

I have a Napa kit (KD at the time, Taiwan, same as the Gearwrench set), they are ok. Not a terribly useful set IMO given I've had them for a long time and only a cuple get used. I did end up buying the Snap-on crowfoot for the o2 sensors (SWR2 IIRC). It handles rusted/seized in sensor...

Hex bit socket quality - there is a difference...

From what I remember in a catalog a long while back, they use gold for metric and silver-ish for inch. This is the way my S-O hex key sets are as well. I doubt there is a difference in material.
