Anyone have a clue what this chunk of steel is used for??

In my world it would be used more for an automotive fix such as this over machinist work. I farm that out to a friend in the biz.

Anyone have a clue what this chunk of steel is used for??

I got this today with some other tools at a flea market. I'm guessing it was something a machinist would use. It has a lot of drill bit scars on just about every side, but I am confused as to why it has a large bolt on top with threads traveling over 3/4's of the way down the block of...

    2014 Garage sale thread!

Headed to the local flea market this morning. I saw some stuff, but the prices were steep for stuff I didn't need nor did I think I could resell for a profit. I did get this box of screwdrivers and other odds and ends. The square piece of solid steel with a threaded hole has me...

Hard to see in the pic, but for $30 I'd probably grab it especially if you need one. A hole is probably due to a void in the casting and is better than a crack IMO. What model no. is it? Looks like a 973, but it's hard to tell.

    NJ CL Vintage Snap-on Boxes

It slowed down since we have been peppered with a plethora of snow storms this winter, and my dad's shop is over an hour away from my house. All the letters are painted and the sign itself is in primer, but I haven't had time to get to the shop and lay down the base coat. I promise to upload...

    NJ CL Vintage Snap-on Boxes

I'd be all over this, but I'm heading up to Lancaster on Sunday to buy a 1976 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 parts truck, so my "fun-money" is spoken for especially since the wifey (aka CFO) will be heading up with me:mad:. Hopefully someone on here grabs them...

What kind of vise is this?

Look zkilng, we did a little debating on another thread (which you never added a final response to), but I am not trying to start some online battle with you or anyone on this site. I can find plenty of that at work. BUT, I can say that I see a fair amount of posts where you like to add some...

    DIY Automotive Painting...noob inside!

I would recommend letting someone else do your painting from now on. I've known people with the same issues and have outsourced it when they need painting done. It's not worth it.
