    Pawn shop loose socket bins

The shops around here are a mixed bag. They all have fairly large bins of sockets, but some keep them dirty and unsorted, and some clean and sort by size or US/Non-US. I've found everything, and I mean EVERYTHING - from no-name with flaking chrome to Snap On and SK to broken sockets with nuts...

    Soldering Iron recommendation

Your main problem with the Portasol is that there is TOO MUCH heat... seriously.

    Soldering Iron recommendation

For bench work, I loves me some Weller 51 station. So much in fact, that I bought two. For portable/car stuff, portasol is great - just trickier to use properly and get the same quality results. Still waiting for a good rechargeable cordless... all the attempts at this I've seen so far have...

    Wiha "Microfinish" Driver Grips

I already have a full set of Wera electricians insulate screwdrivers with amti-camout tips. Bought them at a pawn shop years ago. They are fine, I just like the Wiha handle geometry and feel better than the Wera style. P.S. I bought the 3 different styles of Wiha nutdrivers to get all the...

    Wiha "Microfinish" Driver Grips

I checked and this is what I found. I ordered metric nut drivers from 3 different Wiha styles - the hollow handled, the softfinish standard, and the softfinish heavy duty. The hollow handled all have flank-drive looking geometry, with noticable corner indenting so as to avoid driving the...

    So I was on Ebay

I was at a pawn shop on Thursday. One of the girls behind the counter was talking to another employee who was looking things up on a computer for pricing. Girl is asking about an iPad mini 16GB - guy on computer says the last one on eBay sold for $430. My turn at the counter. "You guys...

    Wiha "Microfinish" Driver Grips

Hi all... In my last order for nutdrivers from Wiha, I picked up a few Phillips and Slotted drivers with "Microfinish" grips. Very different than what I was expecting, but I used them a bit yesterday, and I think I like them so far. Those who also own some Microfinish handled tools, how do...

    Best Needle Nose Pliers?

I have dozens of pliers from probably 10 or so manufacturers. For small work, I really like Erem and Lindstrom. For larger mechanics type pliers, I used to think Klein was as good as it gets... but lately I find myself liking Knipex and Channelock more. I have a few Crescent, I'm pretty...

    New Black HF Tool Box???

That looks like it might be a really nice box... I'd probably buy at $200-ish.

    Snap-On doesn't want new customers.

I personally got nowhere when calling Snap On to get a local driver's number to buy a few tools. The customer service rep kept pushing online sales from the website... I kept telling him I wanted to buy and use one of the ratchets (the TLL72) TODAY, not Monday after the weekend was over and...

    Recommend a decent micrometer?

B&S and Starrett both have a retro 18th century "classiness" about their design and typography that modern instruments just don't even come close to.

    Recommend a decent micrometer?

Starrett, Mitutoyo, Browne and Sharp, Fowler. All excellent.

Super deal on test lead kit

Just opened mine, TRULY a bargain for the price! The case even has room to store a small DMM (I put my Cornwell automotive DMM in mine...) to the left of the battery clamps area. Very happy with my purchase - I'd buy from Archie again.

Super deal on test lead kit

Picked up mine at the post office about 10 min. ago. Haven't opened it up yet... but the package looks like it's the right shape and size! :)

Forgot about that one... Those are seriously great tools... despite being HF.

Does this exist? Air powered vacuum...

I'm going to be sucking up a lot if greasy metal chips. I doubt a bag will hold up to that for long.

    Do they even make this?

Oops... missed your requirement for a long handle. The HF "thing" would provide that as-is, if you can live with the "T" at the end of it. Or, grind it off.

    Do they even make this?

For about the smallest in the world, buy a Harbor Freight T-Handled flex roto-ratchet "thing". Undo the bolt at the flex joint, and you end up with a super tiny roto-ratchet ratchet with a 3/8 drive.
