How much is cost a factor in your hand tool purchasing decision?

Cost always matters. I’m not a professional mechanic and my interests are all over the place. I generally shoot for an upper middle of the range but nothing tool truck level. USA/Japan/Germany/Taiwan in that order where possible depending on price. China is not my favorite, but I will buy...

    Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

The updated orbital sander is a nice improvement over the OG especially for dust collection, but the OG also works well.

Awesome deal. I wish I had a use or space for one. Durham LIC-243644-2-95 is a low-profile instrument cart featuring 2 shelves, constructed from 14-gauge steel, with dimensions of 24 x 36 x 44 inches (Width x Depth x Height). It has a 1,200 lb load capacity and includes non-slip black vinyl...

    Laser level

I have one like this cheapie from Amazon, works great. I used it extensively when cutting in a new garage door between my garage and shop last spring. Well worth the ~$50...

Finally got some organization in my shop

My FSU (opposite of OCD, f***ing s*** up) wouldn’t stand for that for more than about 10 minutes. I’m terrible about just dropping things in place and moving on to the next project. I give the shop a good organizing about every 6-7 projects, when all of the 10mm sockets have escaped into the...

Amazon Deals on New Retail Items - Post them!

I grabbed one for my wife’s yankee swap gift at the office. I stocked it with a couple of basic tools and PPE. It was very well received. I blew the $25 budget with the $5 Duratech box cutter and the safety glasses from my private stash. Everything else and the box was just under $25 with tax.

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

We can agree to disagree, but I think it’s the other way around. There is a dedicated brand deal thread for Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, etc then deals make the most sense in those name brand threads. General deals on things at Home Depot like Husky products, clearance items, and other Home...

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

I’m on both threads. Many more Home Depot deals on Milwaukee stuff, including the special buy of the day, are on that Milwaukee deals thread than over here. I agree with @2manytools that it belongs on the other thread. As to which thread is more popular, the stats leave no doubt the Milwaukee...

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

I’m seeing the free tool has been removed from the grinder product page. Same on the mid torque page, but that one is also showing out of stock. Might be a regional thing. The guys having issues are all east, the successful orders are out west.

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

My store shows 10+ of the vac and grinder I tried as free items. Frustrating. I’d rather have them let the transaction go and just cancel it rather than me having to try 15 times to check out with different configurations.

    Home Depot deals/sales/clearance

I keep on getting errors trying to check out. I’ve tried different items, different stores, different credit cards. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my grinder for a while.

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

The Bosch driver arrived today, I threw together a quick and lame video. I’m not at all monetized as this is my 15th video in like 10 years.

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

Understood and appreciated. I think many of us are looking for the next tool and you made excellent points. I was trying to be through in why I think it’s suitable for my specific task, not meaning to come off as combative. My apologies if that’s how it read.

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

    1. I’ve had the Dewalt for 9 years and always use it straight. I’ll use one of my three Milwaukee 2401-20 if I need a pistol grip. I specifically need a straight driver for my production work ergonomics, my wrist was bugging me after assembling 14 units with nine vertical screws using a pistol...

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

While pursuing Amazon looking for some junky straight screwdriver to try I came across a new offering from Bosch. No gyro option, but a quality manufacturer, USB C charging, mechanical clutch, and what appears to be a large button I can fat finger in a coke can like grip to activate it...

    Dewalt gyroscopic screwdriver

I have one of these and would like to buy another, I’m very annoyed they have been discontinued. They excel at fine work, like M2 screws into plastic RC cars. The clutch is very light and they won’t strip in those applications. Lately I’ve been using it to run a tap down the threads of brass...

I went to look for one of these sets and only see them at $169. I also found an old thread on this exact set. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/the-best-single-socket-set-dewalt-192-piece-150.506862/
