Not saying they would break or tear, but the bolts will help hold the plate down. As the car twist, the cage tries to pull off the floor. The pipes pull from where its welded, not on the edges. That's where the bolts come in. It just makes it last longer, without having to come back in a few...

Is it a mild steel cage or chrome moly? It looks good, but on the plates there needs to be a 4, 3/8 bolts through the floor. That looks to be a uni-bodyed car. With the plates just welded, the twisting of the car will tear the welded part. The bolts help stop that from happening. Travis
