How did you wire your 5 HP air compressor

I used #10 in conduit. Total length is 6FT and it's hooked to a 30A breaker. My compressor is a 5HP Quincy. Everything seems to work great.

Stuff in garage u have Only because its chinese ( cheap)

There are a few things probably hidden in some drawer that were made in China, but the only thing I use on a regular basis is my Atlas lift. It's made in China, and it's decent. There are also Chinese leftovers in the fridge. Those I like!

    Suburban Machine Shop

Really nice looking place. That Haas is a big step in the right direction over the Tormach. Like someone asked earlier, what kind of work are you doing?

    Show off your lifts!!!

Here are a few pics of my new Atlas 14K. It would be nice to have a little bit more ceiling height, but I can lift my pickup high enough that I don't hit my head, so I guess that's good enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Any ratcheting wrench recommandations ?

I bought metric and sae flat, no offset, no reversible Gear Wrench ones a few years back. They work just fine but really dislike the lack of offset. I just bought a set of Snap On offset with the reverse switch and I like them much better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Covered Arena or Pole Barn framing looks terrible, or is this normal?

I also live in western Oregon. That barn was not engineered by an amateur. This is a completely normal construction type. There are thousands of pole barns built just like the one you are describing. I never hear of a failure. It may look strange to you, but it's completely...

    Worst impact sockets?

Around 1992, I bought a Campbell Hausfeld Air impact kit from K-Mart for around $100. It had a 1/2 impact with about 8 sae impact sockets. While the CH gun didn't hurt the sockets, I did break them pretty easily with a SO gun. The sockets were chrome vanadium. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Help with 4-Post Lift Pump and Lock Location

I have an Atlas 414. My pump is on the rear drivers side. I went back and forth on where the optimal location would be, and really came to no good answer. The right side of my lift is against the wall and decided that if something went south while operating the controls, I'd have no way to...

Installing air lines in the garage

You can use PVC for air? Wow I wish I wouldve known that before I spent $500 on Rapidair products. Silly me.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Snap On ball joint press equivalent??

For $420, I'd buy a few sets and give them to a few friends as Christmas gifts. The SO press is a high quality tool. I'm not a pro mechanic, but when I do use a tool for my own projects, I want the thing to work. I rented inferior presses several times and was not impressed. I have beat the...

What Do You End Up Doing w/ Tools You Regret Purchasing and Exceeded Return Policy?

What Do You End Up Doing w/ Tools You Regret Purchasing and Exceeded Return P... I give all my older, obsolete, or unwanted tools to a couple of younger guys at work. To them it's a step up from what they currently have and they are extremely appreciative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Broken tap FUDGEEEEEEE

Hand drilling will be almost impossible. We have had luck sometimes drilling them out with a carbide endmill but most often the threads are no good if we are successful getting the tap out. There are companies that are setup to burn out broken taps, but not knowing what your part value is, I...

What RA would you say this is?

It's hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like it's a least a 250 RA finish, maybe worse. I think it needs to be smoother to seal properly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Separate room for compressor vs standalone

My compressor is in its own little room much like what you have drawn. I'm definitely glad I gave up a little space for a more pleasant work environment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
