What if one pulley is thicker on the outside edge? Wouldn't that put it out of whack?

I ordered a replacement pump for my older devilbiss 60 gallon compressor that is not an original. Just wondering if there is an easy way to line up the pump pulley with the motor pulley so everything is nice and square without having to drill holes 5 different times. Thanks for any input!

It should only be a single stage pump. The only reason I guess would be so that the filter is pointing towards the outside and i dont have to run the outgoing airline all the way around the cylinder. Just thought if it could be done, why not? Looks more professional that way too.
