Lights mounted to inside of garage door

I don't see why why you couldn't attach some lights to the door but I would hardwire a cord reel to supply power to them. When the door is lowered the cord would extend & retract when opened. I would also modify the reel to eliminate the ratchet in it so it has a constant pull on the cord. :)...

    Roof truss question

I don't think you'll be happy with a 10' ceiling. I'm adding on to my garage now & I have a 10' ceiling, so I went with custom scissor trusses (4th pic down on the right on that page you have linked) that give me an additional 34" above my 10'. This will allow me to use a two post lift & be able...

    About to pour

What you might want to consider is adding color to the concrete. I'm not a fan of epoxy either so I'm having my concrete colored to a light gray & then will seal with a good sealer my concrete guy suggested that has a lot of solids in it.

    Pole Barn Post Covering Options?

Another idea is to rent a siding brake & buy a roll of aluminum coil from Lowes, HD, etc & bend custom covers for them. Use construction adhesive to secure the covers with no nails. I've done this in my patio room with no problems & it gave a clean look as you're wanting.

So my new shop is sinking!

Just a bump to see what's going on. We're all curious! I'm glad mine is sitting on all rock. It cost me more in excavation because the contractor couldn't use an auger for the post holes - he had to rent a trackhoe & dig footer style trenches, form & pour poll bases, then backfill...

    I need more heat!!

In his first post, he said nothing about heating an extra room. It sounds like a waste of time when he could just get an oil filled electric heater for that room. :wtf:

    I need more heat!!

In my opinion you don't have enough insulation if you just used double bubble. That stuff works best if used with another type of insulation such as fiberglass or cellulose. Double bubble is good for controlling RADIANT heat but not CONDUCTIVE heat. That's what the fiberglass is good for...

TIme to heat up with wood burner

Steve has a good point to check into & your idea is good as well, so why not go with an outdoor furnace & run hot water to both the house & garage if the outside furnace is allowed? They're real popular around here but some towns have enacted laws against them or have rules to follow to install...

    Slab insulation question

I know it will absorb water but with poly all around it & the excellent drainage I have, I'm not worried about that being a problem. How will parking one tire on it be a test? Blue board will compress with that kind of weight concentrated on it on one spot. I don't understand what you're trying...

    Slab insulation question

Hello, after doing a lot of reading on here & other sites, I can't find the information I'm looking for & thought I would ask for opinions here. I got my hands on a bunch of Georgia Pacific Sturdi-Top roofing panels that are 3 1/2" thick with the fiber backer board on them. I can't find out any...

    radiant heater for 24x30 Garage

I have a 26x30x10 garage with poor wall insulation but good attic insulation. I have a 40k btu, 12' long unit & it works like a charm. Mine's mounted to the picture above at the head of the garage in the center.
