    Air compressor drain valve weird spiral attached

    I am overhauling an old horizontal air compressor. It has a drain valve in the middle of the tank on the side. When I removed it, I found out that it has some weird steel spiral attached to it. Any idea what this is for? Picture attached. Thanks GS

    Thank you, that helps a lot. I see you actually have a "drop" in the vent line from the heater to the box. I might have to do the same since I want to keep the heater as close to the ceiling as possible. I thought I read somewhere that a drop like this could be an issue. Also, isn't it...
