Need to descale my Open Loop Geothermal Coax. Any advice?

Citric acid is a mild acid, especially for copper, work slower than stronger acids but is much safer on metals or use the available lime scale removers at the big box stores, be care of any which use strong acids such as hydrochloride acid. I would heat up any solution you use,. warm but not...

Designing a Car Guy Garage, Drawing Feedback Welcome!

As to the wall vapor barrier, most important is stopping the air from moving around within/around the insulation as best as you can, sealing the outside wall with sealant, and if covered on the inside, seal any opening as in electric boxes, plumbing pipe etc. If you will have ceiling consider...

My Shop Internet Service Plan - Advise please

Arrestors on both ends works sometimes, a lightning strike close by will fry cat 6 and connected devices. Even shielded cat6 will not stop lightning, the Faraday effect of the shielding will not work with a high potential charge traveling over the wire. With a nearby hit, the shielding becomes...

    Termite bonds - worth it?

You are getting hosed. Had a plan forced by the bank when I sold my first house, they placed 6 traps in the soil and walked away $1200.00. Previously I used Termidor SC ( the good stuff)_around the perimeter which lasts up to 10 years, the termite can not smell or taste it, they walk over it...

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

Maybe not 80%, I strive for 90-95%, but anything over 95% is a waste of resources as in time on this earth and money.

Yes, but the real fun begins if you have brick. Agree 98% of the time there are better solutions.

    Monoblock heat pumps

Performance is dismal, sticks out 8", you still need to run electric and a drain, DB level is high, capacity is very low, 1 year warranty. So you trade performance and a good bit of money in electric cost because it is easier to install. Since it is an "hour install" how much are the...

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

For me speed of retrieval is anti-aggravation and lower blood pressure. It also keeps down the number of duplicate tools and materials. Still I have at least 5 utility knives. ;)

Tool Organisation Was the Wrong Question — We Should Optimize for Speed of Retrieval, Certainty of Return & Protection of Value of tools.

For me this is critical.....Have multiple 60" 10-15 draw Vidmars with plastic bins. Not as organized as I like due to other priorities as of yet but I can open and close the draws very fast, and have pretty much memorized what is in the 10 plus Vidmars . Should I forget were something is I can...

Communication Error - Help me troubleshoot Fujitsu Halcyon 36 BTU Mini Split

Just watch a couple videos, guess all animals panic when they get really hot spices. Reminds me of my reaction to Jalapeños peppers I had in Mexico, Had a great dog when I was really young we could get him to eat anything, guess we were mean but we would make butter and pepper sandwiches, heavy...

New Pole shed with cement and good garage door, mouse proof?

Managed a school in Brooklyn NY, it was very involved to rodent proof my building. Every exterior door need a metal strip on the bottom with an 1/8" clearance; originally I installed the strips with a 1/4-3/8" gap between the door and the frame, that did not work. I used a combination of copper...

Communication Error - Help me troubleshoot Fujitsu Halcyon 36 BTU Mini Split

Use Cayenne pepper in my garden for rats with tails in my garden, worked great. Have to admit I enjoyed watching the rodents licking their paws and panicking. Even after the pepper washed away from rain I did not have to reapply for >2 years

Communication Error - Help me troubleshoot Fujitsu Halcyon 36 BTU Mini Split

Cayenne pepper, sounds like a good idea...... all my units are completely sealed in the control board area but I will place pepper around the compressor area next time I open a unit up. Also the OP did not mention having an external surge/lightning suppressor, from opening up a Fujitsu unit the...

    Spray Foam Contractor Discussion

What ever you agree on get it in writing or the contractors do what they want, not what you want. Personally I would not inform an agent about anything unnecessarily. If there is a mention of spray foam in your insurance documents inform them, otherwise do not. Basically if something is not in...

Skid steer or mini excavator for some dirt work?

Critical you test the soil and remediate to a neutral PH or it is a waste to use sod It is not that difficult to use, unless your machine *******, the older heavy duty machines had far more controls to deal with and required a more skilled "touch" to the controls.

Skid steer or mini excavator for some dirt work?

A tracked skid steer is so easy to use you should do it yourself. Within 30 minutes you could be using the few controls without thinking about it. Had the issue with water getting to the basement around the entire house as everything pitched toward the house. I rented a Skid steer for a week...

    Trouble pulling vacuum

Spoiled here too. As a kid we had no AC, large attic fan later on. Some how we manage to get enough sleep to function but it was brutal, NYC only cools a few degrees at night, 100° during the day 97° at night. Now I can not sleep without AC, a brutal first world issue.

Trenching to a depth of 48" for water lines

Yes I agree, more machine is better than not enough. I visited the rental place and checked out the possibilities. The Case 580 I originally thought of is really big, the next size down Kubota is more than sufficient; yes the wrong decision could cost me days in wasted time, money and...

Trenching to a depth of 48" for water lines

Less damage than tire? a year and a half ago I had a Skid Steer for 7 days to grade the yard, a tracked vehicle will damage a lawn far more than rubber tires. If you do not make any turns, yes, but I need to make a lot of turns, no matter how "softly" you make turns it still causes damage on a...
