I just saw this done on "Ask This Old House" yesterday. They mounted it on three all-thread pins with epoxy on both ends.

I found one of these "ProBasics Personal Hydraulic Patient Body Lift with Free Sling - " at thrift store for $7.50. (I don't think I can post a link -- you will have to search) Anyway it will lift 450 pounds.
