My Vehicle Lift Bolts are Pulling Out

I would suggest abandoning the current anchors and reinstalling epoxy based anchors. Properly installed to a clean substrate the anchors and epoxy are typically stronger than the concrete.

    Smallest pad for compressor?

Sounds good, seems like the 3x3 pad would be plenty. Save your back.

    Smallest pad for compressor?

Don't bolt your compressor to concrete. Use hockey pucks, a pallet, a wood base, or cushion pads. Bolting it tight to the concrete will cause fatigue failures from vibration in the legs or tank eventually. I think the pad is a good idea (you can't just set it on the dirt) but just don't bolt...

Yost Vises 865-DI 6.5" Heavy Duty Reversible Bench Vise Made in USA

The broken tang sure looks like cast iron when it fractures. If it were ductile iron there would be a white color at the fracture site. Additionally, Yost is very specific in the description when stating a "ductile iron BODY". I bought one though because I don't think the cast iron base will...

Yost Vises 865-DI 6.5" Heavy Duty Reversible Bench Vise Made in USA

I don't think there is an issue other than the vise is advertised as DI and it is pretty clear from those pics the base is cast iron. I think it is a nice vise for the price and I may buy one.

Yost Vises 865-DI 6.5" Heavy Duty Reversible Bench Vise Made in USA

Based on that review it appears the base is certainly not DI. If you read the description closely they call out "ductile iron body..." Still seems like a good vise but I would consider the base the failure point.

    Motorcycle Garages Only

Awesome that you keep them all in running condition. I often wonder if people with this many vehicles get a dealer plate or some kind of special insurance that covers so many. I have trouble with my 6 street legal bikes as the insurer makes me get multiple policies to cove them all. Again...

What to do with old gas?

Pour a little on the ground (concrete) and let it evaporate. Technically not a release. Also I have let it sit in a 5 gallon pail and evaporate.

Anything you wish you had under the slab? (other than radiant)

Not sure of your layout but if you know you are going to have a freestanding workbench/table and can commit to a location a floor outlet would be nice. A few stub outs for future underground runs if you don't have them already (data cable from another structure, alarm cable, phone, doorbell...

    Best free CAD Software?

You really should look into AutoCAD Fusion 360. They actually allow you to register for a free Hobbyist license for non-commercial use. 20 years ago this would have been $25k software (or more). It is cloud based but runs on Mac or PC, IE you can run most of it offline for a few weeks at a...

    Motorcycle Garages Only

Pretty nice collection. I have a much smaller collection. 7 motorcycles. Over time I struggle with finding the time to ride them and end up spending more time and money cleaning carbs and buying new batteries. In my teens and 20's I never thought I would be that guy who let a perfectly good...

Pouring Small Concrete Pad In Batches?

In the heat of Summer that may be an issue but if you do it now I don't see a problem. I would mix 2 bags at a time just so it i easier to mix. Just screed it as you go starting from one side or corner. IE fill the form to the top and then work your way toward the other side.

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The 12-Gauge Garage

Re: Structural Engineering: Where does this fail first? As others have said, the only real weak spot is the lack of cribbing to ground for the center member. Shore that up and you should be good to go. You would be shocked at what framers build to support a full unit of OSB on a roof.

My homemade in-floor one post hydraulic motorcycle lift

Super nice use of space. I love my Handy Lift but it is certainly a floor space commitment.

Morton shed doors...why do they leak?

There are a couple of issues that can make doors like this leak. 1) The threshold should be embedded in caulk to the slab. 2) On the outside I like to remove the weatherstrips and caulk the door jamb and threshold interface. Once you take the vertical kerf weatherstripping loose you will see...

Simple cabinets and drawers for a non-woodworker

Thanks all for the suggestions. 1) I own the HF 44 top and bottom box. OK for tools but as a basis for a workbench for me it would be lots of wasted space mostly due to the depth. I am looking to make drawers a little wider, much deeper and taller than the HF44 drawers. 2) I own a router and...

Simple cabinets and drawers for a non-woodworker

Hello guys, I'm looking for some direction on what is the best way to make simple cabinets with drawers for a person who isn't a cabinet maker by trade. Full disclosure I don't really love woodworking. I'm looking to replace a few 2x4/plywood/4x4 workbenches with cabinets with siding drawers...

How do you do ...tire rotation?

I change oil every 5k and cross rotate F-R while the vehicle is up on the stands. I get quite a bit more life out of the tires and never need to rebalance either. By the time the tires go out of balance from uneven wear they are down to the wear bars. Everybody does something different but I...
