I want to start building a better pliers arsenal...help

I'll throw my hat into the ring and say I prefer the standard grip on Knipex as well. I don't like unnecessary bulk on a tool. All my Knipex pliers have been exactly what I want in a plier and quite satisfying to use. The hardest part is deciding on what to get. I use pliers more often than most...

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

Thanks to everyone who has followed so far. It's not over yet. Still lots to do on the Leslie and a little bit on the Hammond before I can call it good.

I had a little helper in the garage last night: with Daniel's help, I finally finished the back panel:

Is Matco or Mac ever the top?

Matco/Witte screwdrivers are amazing. I hope they make them a long, long time. Mac makes great punches and chisels I like Mac/Stanley antivibe ball peen hammers better than SO deadblows in a lot of situations Several people mentioned the extensions Mac makes good drill bits Mac makes most of...

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

Thanks, but don't despair. Hammonds are actually extraordinarily low maintenance instruments, though. The only reason mine has been such a project is because it was in terrible condition. Really, this is in no way par for the course.

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

Refinishing is a project that feels like it never ends. I recently worked on the bench top and back panel (finally!). I also began working on the bench had to cut the legs down a bit to get them even. Now I've got to find some wood for the legs.

Here. I made this yesterday. It's not the most sophisticated or comprehensive video, but I was trying for brevity and simplicity.

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

Thanks! It was just a quick and dirty phone recording. I'll do one with the microphone and some actual skill one of these days. I play terribly when a camera is rolling. No idea why. I like the instructional/tour video idea. I'll try and make one soon. I'd like to wait until the organ is...

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

More! Today, I finished wiring the Leslie kit. The organ now controls the Leslie. Pretty exciting! The pictures don't do it justice. This was really hard to wire up and stuff into that tiny box. I'm a little disappointed that the wiring inside became such a jumble, but considering that it...

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

More work on the Leslie. Remember how I said that the horn driver was blown and was going to need a new diaphragm? Well, I found out that the diaphragm might just be misaligned, which could be corrected with a little finesse. So, last night, I got to work on it. I had a spare driver that was...

The 3M Garage (minimalist, multipurpose, modular)

Thanks. I also repaired the door panels a while back. The glue dries up and they are known for coming apart.

The 3M Garage (minimalist, multipurpose, modular)

So, people post about their projects in these threads, right? Today, I was working on my Volvo sedan. The rear door's power lock actuators had become intermittent, especially on hot days, leaving my kids in the heat while I fumble with the manual locks. No bueno. At about $200 a poop, I wasn't...

64 Hammond C-3 organ full restoration

Did some work on the Leslie yesterday and thought I'd share what it looks like inside. For those who don't know, a Leslie is a rotary speaker. It connects to the organ via a proprietary six conductor cable. The switches I posted above control the speed of the spinning rotors, fast or slow...
