    24 x 30 polebarn 20 years a comeing

I'll have to get some pics, but there's a boulder that's at least 5'x2.5' and 2' tall sticking out right next to our footers. No idea how deep it goes, but it didn't budge when we hit it with a bobcat. Across the yard we have various large boulders, but the big one is about 4x4x4'.

    24 x 30 polebarn 20 years a comeing

Those little pebbles are cute. Here's some rocks we ran into - we ended up pinning into the two boulders in the way of the footer. If it makes you feel better I couldn't get anyone to take on site prep and stormwater management for a pole barn in southeast PA. Talked to contractors for about 6...

    RXtacy's small detached rotary haven

Too funny! After owning two British sports cars I've had a taste, but not that bad. My Lotus Elise had so many endless issues, but nothing major. Maintenance was a pain. The Aston Martin v8 Vantage had similar timing with issues, but the cost to fix was so much more. Traded for my current S6...

    RXtacy's small detached rotary haven

Looks like this is going to be a great addition! Can't wait to see more. Beautiful car, too. Never owned a rotary but I think I'd like to some day. Maybe if they come out with a new RX-7 in a few years...

Out of control single car garage

Not ideal, but there's a ton of good ideas on this forum for you. Definitely figure out how to maximize every vertical inch of space. Floor-to-ceiling shelving along all walls with smartly spaced shelves could really help. Good luck!

    Garage Build (Pennsylvania)

What are the dimensions of your storm water management pit? I'm in SE PA and have to do a 30x3 for just a 24x32 garage. Looks like you might have more favorable requirements. It does seem to be quite the racket, though. No consideration for current and future storm water management, we have to...

    diskreet's Double - 24x32 detached garage build

I'm having built a 24x32 detached garage as described here. I'll take pics when I can, but with busy work, grad school, and a 3 week old, I'm going to miss a lot of days. That's also why I'm not tackling this myself, but I'll be helping with the electric, maybe the floor, and later finishing...

Intro - about to build 24x32 detached garage

I completely agree with going bigger, if I could. The space on my lot is already being a bit stretched to fit this and the storm water management system. I could probably fit a 28x32 garage, but I just can't do it in my budget right now. On the bright side, I will use the existing attached...

Intro - about to build 24x32 detached garage

Thanks everyone. Going to take all the feedback into account very soon. My wife delivered our first child, a boy, yesterday so I need to back off for a few to handle that. I hope he likes cars as much as I do! As for heating / cooling, I'll probably heat and cool later on, but only to keep...

Intro - about to build 24x32 detached garage

Thanks guys. Theoldwizard1, what would the layers actually be - stone, then vapor barrier, ridig foam on top of the barrier, then concrete? I'll ask the family member who does this professionally, but I'm glad you recommended it - we hadn't talked through that yet.

Intro - about to build 24x32 detached garage

Wood frame, 2x6 wall studs 18" O/C. Footers will be: No plans for storing anything in the attic. I'd rather insulate the hell out of it than use the space. I can always hang a couple ceiling mount shelves for high-up storage if I need it. Couple other details: vinyl siding, shingle roof...

Intro - about to build 24x32 detached garage

After lurking for a few years, and getting great ideas, I figured I'd join. This is primarily an intro, but I'll take anyone's input on this. We're applying for permits this week for a detached 24x32x12 garage. Right now we have a split-level house with a small 2-car garage, and no other...
