    Bare Bones Tool Kit List

You know, that's a good point. It isn't like you need a full set of anything. Personally, I'd go heavier on weird, mundane stuff like a roll of quarters, toilet paper, jumper cables, etc. The thing is, if you have a failure you'll likely need a part...if I were doing field repairs (and I hate...

    What to get?

HOW ABOUT A DURALAST RATCHET!! I keed, I keed. You know, a cool gift would be one of those Nepros adjustable wrenches. Even a garage-shy girlfriend could see the value in one of those things.

Is Mac tools dying as a truck brand?

Just so I get this all straight, is the home user allowed to use SO? I'm never quite sure on the forum rules.

Is Mac tools dying as a truck brand?

You just have to love the Christmas season, it brings out the best in all of us. Generally, it seems to me that the pressure on current tool distribution channels is the same as it is everywhere else. There's a constant push over time towards less, but larger organizations to do the selling...

Is Mac tools dying as a truck brand?

My own Budweiser bottle is pretty blurry, but I can definitely see more pressure on the beast over time. It wouldn't surprise me to see the difference in quality between cheap and premium brands go away to a large extent and be replaced by (mostly) marketing only...mass production, even for...

    Tool cabinets and deep drawers

The funny thing about home shops is that if the larger drawer is filled with things you don't use very often, it might as well be a cardboard box or a plastic tote. I'll bet that most home hobbyists would do just fine with a 26" or even an 18" benchtop toolchest for holding socket...

    screwdriver storage wall rack

As an art project, I think I'd stick with magnetic strips. Peg boards or those racks with holes in them would look too busy if you had a bunch of them.

Where to get NWS tools in the States?

I believe that Chad's Toolbox sells them.

I realize I'm new here but I would respectfully like to offer my humble suggestions

I'll be sure to get back to that #6. The thing is that there's so little to most of this as a subject (blasphemy!) compared to the things that are manipulated with them, that about all that's left is idle banter about brands.

I realize I'm new here but I would respectfully like to offer my humble suggestions

The thing is, there's only so much that can be said about a #2 Phillips screwdriver or a 1/2" combination wrench. The exotica tools thread (ie. Old World) is about the only thing that brings new knowledge to the fold.

Embrace the funk. That Harbor Freight funk. Hunh! Good gawd! Take it to the bridge.

Maybe, but in the case of screwdrivers the answer is pretty obvious.

    A) This big -> . B) Yes. All of them. C) Yes. Rumfy.

I realize I'm new here but I would respectfully like to offer my humble suggestions

A few quick questions, then: 1) Are Snap-on ratchets worth the premium over Duralast? 2) Are Craftsman raised panels really all that home mechanics need? 3) Who makes the best screwdrivers?

Who has a really small tool box?

$405 + $13.74 = $418.74 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150532890031 I think we can officially say that the world has just come to an end.
