Stick with fluke. There is no reason to trust your life to an untried brand. Some guys say that the Klein meters are junk. I don't know I don't own one. You may also want to look at amprobe. They have some really nice stuff

If you are just going to use it every now and then. In suggest getting the superior tool brand
Learn the basic residential side. Before you worry about commercial controls.
Also ask the guys at the shop what they use. Every part of the country is different. No need to buy hundreds of dollars worth of oil tools. To only find out there isn't oil fired units on your service area.

From reading all the info. It seems the boiler was never skimmed after being installed. If I Install one. I go back after a few days or a week to skimm it again. You will be surprised at the amount of oil. That is on a new boiler.
