Is the marking raised, or recessed? In the original photo, it looks stamped in. But this photo almost looks like it’s forged in.

I believe that that is a Thorsen puck wrench, just an earlier version.

I believe that “Goosewing” is the shape of the axe. A shape that was very common in Germany and thus in Pennsylvania amongst the Deutsche(Germans). I believe that Goosewings were also made in Austria.

I am relatively new here. In reading lots of old posts, I keep seeing references to “Sticky’s”. Could someone please tell me what a “Sticky” is, and how do I find them? Thanks

I just checked out that OEM list. I did not notice Moore Drop Forging, New Britain, Williams, or S-K, known companies who produced hand tools for Craftsman. Is it possible that the OEM list is for power tools & machinery?

As far as the OEM, probably Gerstner. But regardless of manufacturer, the handle is leather, not plastic, which makes me think 50’s or 60’s time frame. At that era, I would be very surprised if it were made anywhere but America.At that time, many factories still took pride in their work. So...

I’d guess that it was refinished. If you look at the condition of the hardware compared to the wood, there is a big difference. Doesn’t make it less valuable, it just means that someone cared enough about it to put in the time and effort to preserve the wood

Hi. I am just wondering what everyone’s opinion is on what would be a fair price for a vintage SK 45170 3/8” ratchet in decent shape? Functionally, it’s got plenty of life, but cosmetically it seen better days.

Simplex was another old one, the “ratchet action speed wrench”. It was a DOE. Vlchek made one for Thorsen back in the 60’s I think, the “Speed Hed”. Not sure why Hed only had one E. I find them great on brake lines. I use a line wrench to break it loose, then follow up with a speed wrench.

Very nice set! I am envious of the ell bar in the 1/2” deep set. Is that original? I have been searching for awhile for that piece
