Not particularly no, I have a couple smaller ones Incase I need them, but can’t say I have the need for one that big... just haven’t come across one this big before and wasn’t sure if I should go after it.

I know yoke pipe vises aren’t as desirable but I have the opportunity to pick up a monster 81lb Reed No.65 (up to 8” capacity) for $75. Is it worth $75? More? Less? (I see a brand new Reed No. 65 which are still produced costs $1,500!!!)

Thank you!! I honestly lost track of the hours... but I’d ballpark it at 30hrs of sanding perfectly smooth from 120 to 800. Buffing/polishing on the wheel was the quick part!

Answered an add on this one, only seeing he first picture and seeing 104 I assumed an old Reed. Sure enough it’s a Reed, after some negotiation over the price due to the bent handle that needs to be straightened out she came down to $30 and then just told me to take the wood vise too for free...

Yeah, I’d guess solid steel round stock too. At first glance I thought the same thing, off center, but it actually looks pretty in line with the static, which makes it pretty similar to the concept of a post leg blacksmith vise...maybe why they marketed these as “sufficient for use as an anvil”.

It definitely needs to be cleaned up, that’s for sure as it has some rust, but it seems like it’s held up over time ok, jaws are actually in great shape and it actually squares up pretty nicely... actually better than the Parker or Athol I’ve recently picked up. Ill agree it doesn’t look like...
