Dont use cold patch since it will only last about a year then it loses it's binding and becomes a bunch of small stones. I've used it to repair asphalt problems but it doesnt last very long. Use asphalt or just get some stone to pack in that gap.

You may want to think about venting that metal box that sits between the rafters since it will get HOT in there. Looks to me like that stove is too close to the wall. I'd pull it out a good foot or so. Single wall pipe is mainly used inside as there is no reason to run double wall unless you have clearance issues. You definitely want a clean out at the base of the chimney and you want to clean it out...
