    Lets see your workbench

After looking at all the great benches in this thread, I decided it was time to replace my 3/4" plywood bench top and replace with something nicer. Sale at Sears and I ended up with 8' butcher block and 8' stainless, both 1-1-2" thick. Before: After: Still need to caulk around wall, and I...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

In true answers to your question, let me start by saying until recently, the only vise I really had much experience with was a 3" China no name that came with the garage. Then I stumbled upon this site, and, well, you know. I recently mounted the Craftsman 3.5 and have been using that for the...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Here is what I found online. (what did we ever do before the intraweb? Oh yea, encyclopedia's and public libraries). In 1560, the ancestor of the Okamoto family established the foundry under the charter by the Royal Court of Emperor of Japan. Making the home and building appliances for the...

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

Thanks EOC, Outlaw, and Fretters. All suggestions were great and used all in conjunction to remove pins. After removing pins, and lead screw, I noticed the T joint is broken. Oh well, I will finish cleaning up and use it as a beater vise.

Everything you need to know about bench vises...

I just acquired this Torco. How do I remove the lead screw? It appears the screw assembly is held in by this pin from the side. Does that need to be cut off, and a new roll pin inserted? Most other vises I have seen have the lead screw held in with a C clip. Thanks, Mike
