First you have to isolate the leak(s), Install a ball valve at the tank and shut it off when you leave for the night. That will tell which side the problem is. My 80 gal. Erie from 1943 looses about 10psi during the week through the compressor/valves, not enough to mess with.

There really aren't many manufacturers, just lots of brands. Mac, snapon, Irwin, and I am sure others are all made in the same plant just different names.

I think you are taking thing a little too seriously here. Most of the things you are using to REBUILD it weren't even made when the motor was built the first time! I wonder how it ever ran for 50 years?

Many tool trucks have torque meters to check wrenches. I have 2 antique meters, one from the 40's one from the 60's and they both checked fairly accurately. They are more for show than work.
