Re: Retaining Wall Sorry about that block in the pic causing confusion. It's not even the same type as I'm using. It was holding my string. I did think about using some concrete in the webs and/or rebar. At a minimum, it will be 3/4 gravel filling the voids in the blocks.

I'd put sythetic underlayment over it. You use it instead of 30# felt. Its easy to walk on, and supposed to be good for 6 months without shingles. Its more expensive than felt paper but doesn't tear off in the wind. Edit: I was thinking of OSB on the roof. The underlayment isn't meant for...

I believe the "proper" thing to do is calculate the air flow for your ridge vent then match the vented soffit so it is the same. Personally, I just used one vented piece after 3 solids. --John
