Building an attached three car garage near Boston

Turns out both shipments made it so now I have six 32 sqft boxes of pro slat to find a home for. I’m probably over thinking it, but spent some time on the layout to plan it where he slats will line up around that big piece of concrete foundation that bumps out of the wall. I ended up aiming...

Building an attached three car garage near Boston

Three boxes of Proslat showed up today! Trying not to start until I get some of the other stuff done but I did have to open a box up to check them out and start thinking about how best to layout the install. Can’t tell if these are the three that I ordered which were ‘lost’ in shipping...

Installed the mounting board on the wall today. This was the easy part. Next the hard part of lifting the motor and blower up there and getting it lined up and on the 6 mounting bolts. If anyone has good ideas how to do this safely I’m all ears, right now I think I may need to...

Thanks, I had been on the lookout for a dust collector for a long time and almost bought one a a couple of times but they were not as big as I knew I wanted and I never pulled the trigger. When that one came up I knew I needed to jump on it and I’m hoping I’m set on dust collection for good...

Made some progress mounting the dust cyclone in the garage today. First i picked a location and marked out the studs and the mounting height that will put the motor 3 to 4 inches below the top of the ceiling. I want it (and the ducting) as up and out of the way of the door as possible but with...

Building an attached three car garage near Boston

Been a while since I posted on the garage project so I thought I’d share an update. We spent the winter pretty much just living in the new garage and living spaces as they were finished when the contractors left. One of the first projects was putting finish on the mudroom stairs. These got 3...

Here’s what the garage temperature has been doing this week with no heater. The temps down at 46 were from one of the garage doors closing not all all the way sealed to the floor overnight. For the rest of the week we were coming and going for work, school, and things like taking out the...

Building an attached three car garage near Boston

What the wife won’t object to sometimes trumps operating costs or optimal choices [emoji4] In reality I’m trying to see how much heat I really need to be providing. Right now o have a temp stick in the garage so I can see what the temperature does for a week as outside temps go up and down. I...

Building an attached three car garage near Boston

Thanks! Still deciding on heat, right now I’m leaning towards electric because I don’t want to mess with venting a gas heater. So far it’s been staying pretty constantly around 55 in the garage (as read by the garage door openers) even on mornings when it was 24 outside just from the...

Getting the top coat of paving done came down to the wire, today was the last day the town allows paving for the season and last weeks jobs were rained out so we just barely made it. Qass3fLG0bE wpT4JFdUqJQ Came out nice, they weren’t skimping on the thickness of this layer either...

    Recommend me a Jigsaw

Anther vote for Bosch for corded jigsaws. I just got a Bosch JS572 on sale at amazon to replace my last Bosch jigsaw which I was awesome but suffered a premature demise (not its fault). So far every bit as good or better than the last one and the double rollers on the blade are neat too...

Not much to update in the garage itself, todays project was to fix the sloppy battery terminals on the plow truck. They didn’t tighten down well and I suspect the bad connection may be part of the drain on the battery. I had the parts for this sitting all summer but snow is coming so time to...

Getting down to punch list items, barn loft doors installed on the gable end of the garage. They are two layers of 3/4 MDO laminated then the decorative trim border and diagonal on top. Hinged to open out flat to the exterior wall of the garage. From the inside: They look bigger when down...
