They are going to 84 tooth. They are from Taiwan and you can still find the deal on the ones they have in stock. I just looked at the 3/8 flex with soft grip for like $22. Not a bad price.

Maybe the matte finish is for rust protection? I like the smooth finish better too but wonder what the reason was to put the matte on in the first place. If yours are like mine, the finish will go away with use.

No idea what you have already. Maybe put it in your pocket and watch for a good deal on something local. You will be ready to strike when it comes up.

I was looking to see if anyone was going to mention this. I think I would rather use my Channelocks as a hammer then to use a set of Knipex. Nothing against them, just think I would feel kind of bad doing it. .....and don't tell me at least some of you haven't used your pliers as a hammer. Ha.

I use Hansen trays and HF trays. 1/2 inch on Hansen and HF for 3/8's. No reason, just ended up that way. Only catch is some of my sockets would not fit over the pegs on the Hansen's so I cut them off. That was for about 4 of the sockets. I guess the bore size on the cheaper impact sockets is...

Buco, sorry to hear of the news. I can only imagine what it must have been like. We had a small furniture factory explode about a half mile from my parents house when the dust was sparked in one of the collectors. It shook the windows, the dishes in the cabinets and about anything not nailed...

Wow. Maybe I'm missing out and just don't know it. Such a strong feeling for something that has for me worked well. I guess part of it may be that before these I just used two screwdrivers and pried the rings out. I get better as I go but maybe I'm still not there yet.

Same message here and really I expected it. The price was way off what it should have been and this is why I gave it a shot.

I have the set on the right and have used them for years with no issues. The tips are replaceable if you break them but I never have.

Ordered the 50622 Williams 1/4-3/8 set for $9.35. Guess we'll see if it ships. The set normally sells for over $200. Seems like an error on the site but it let me order and the photo on the final page was correct. I don't need the tools but for the price I thought I would give it a shot.

My first reply. Main reason to have chrome versus impact when using as a hand tool is wall thickness of the socket. There may be cases where the thicker wall of the impact socket is too much to fit the application. Other than that, I can't see any reason not use use impact sockets in place of...
