where do you dispose of old gas?

It's true. I had an old Step Van sitting here since my dad died back in '89. Two years ago, I wanted to get it sold so I thought I would see if I could get it running. I put in a new battery, a quart of oil and squirted some starting fluid in the carb. and it fired right up and ran for about an...

    50's Service Station Front

:thumbup::drool::thumbup::drool::thumbup::drool:: Wow.! That is one cool *** garage. I would give my left nut to have that and all the stuff inside. Oh hell, who am I kidding, I would give both nuts, my first born and my wife for that to be sitting on my property.

    50's Service Station Front

I live in Ohio and have collected gas stuff for 20+ years and have attended most of the gas shows but has never seen or heard of anything like you described. There is a company that makes vinyl covers for your garage doors that looks like your looking into an open garage with things like sports...

How to thank a great neighbor???

Come to think of it....I have a neighbor lady I'd like to plow out. Unfortunately, I don't think I have a big enough blade to do the job.

    decorating inside of garage doors

Jim, Have you been to my house and stole my stuff? I have that same phone booth and phone, the Anco blade box and the Corvette sign. I have a couple of pop machines but none like yours, so I guess you are off the hook.

    Shop pranks

I also worked in a distribution center one summer (1980 I think) loading semi trailers. There was one particular driver named Jack that loaded out every Tuesday and delivered his load to Arizona from eastern Indiana. He was a real A-hole and treated us loaders like ****. It usually took a while...

    Shop pranks

Right after I graduated high school, I got a job at a small plant that made misc. car parts. I had older brothers and a dad that work in a factory all his life so I knew all the newbie pranks that the guys would try to pull on me. Sure enough, the first day they sent me after some made up tool...

    estimating

I agree! I had 24x36 and it was never big enough for a garage, so I'm tuning it into a bar/gameroom and I found that even for that there is not enough room for all my stuff. Go Bigger or you will be sorry. 18x22 may sound good on paper but not when you start to put stuff in it. I had 24 feet to...

    Fastening OSB

I'd go with screws also. I am in the process of redoing my garage and when it was built I put in an 8" x 12" office in the corner with osb and used ring shanked nails. I wanted to remove the 12" wall to put in a bar, talk about a real pain in the *** removing the osb on both sides (24 feet of...

Damn You People of Garage Journal for Over Edumakating Me

Just because she only wanted a couple of bucks doesn't mean you couldn't have given her 75.00 for the pair. It would have been a good deal for both of you. You could sell one for 50.00 and only have 25.00 in the one you keep. Sounds like we need to keep Edumakating you a bit more.

Anyone ever mixed & poured their own concrete floor?

I don't think a case would cover it with my friends :beer: I learned a long time ago I don't ask family for anything. I'd rather ask the homeless guy on the corner that works for beer than to ask my brother in law. :bounce:

Anyone ever mixed & poured their own concrete floor?

D.J. - Thanks for the calculations. I wasn't exactly sure how to figure it. That doesn't sound too bad and less work than mixing it myself. I should be able to come up with that much in the spring. I can probably barrow the tools and the help. It's going to start to get cold here and I don't...

Anyone ever mixed & poured their own concrete floor?

NUTTSGT: Thanks for the info. I guess I will probably just use the floor as is until next spring. Maybe by then I can save up enough money to bring in the cement truck and have it all done at once. If I'm not going to save much money it's not worth the time and effort to do it myself.

    Lousy Lumber

I used to buy my good lumber at Carters and if I needed just a few boards I would get them at Lowe's, since it was a bit more convenient. The Carter's in my area went out of business so I'm stuck buying everything at Lowe's which is mostly ****. You have to sort through a ton of boards just to...
