Water pipes thinning and pin holes

Test strips will test any water. I am surprised that your PH was at 8.0 Since that is the case I don't think it is a water problem. 8.0 PH will not attack copper piping.

    concrete crack filler

If you are looking for something flexible I used Sikaflex self leveling. It comes in a caulk tube and I got it at Home Depot. It worked great for me.

    outdoor hot tub

Check your data plate or installation instructions. Some spas can be run on a 3 wire system but that is if they are 220v only. Most spas require a 4 wire system (2 hots, 1 neutral and a ground). That is because some of the equipment is run on 110v such as the blower, light or possibly the pump...

    Sub panel help

I ran a 4 wire direct burial aluminum wire number of years ago and it did not hold up well. I then ran copper in conduit and it has lasted. I would not recommend direct burial if something happens there is no fix, just dig it up and replace it.

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

It is a two wire appliance. I don't want of offend anyone and I appreciate all the replies but just for now I have one question. Do I need to add ground rods at the sub panel? Some of this information is over my pay grade. LOL I don't want to sound like a smart a$$ but I am talking about the 8...

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

DC73, Thanks for the info. I understand now. You explained it well. What doesn't make any since to me is that for a number of years we had an el cheepo stereo receiver in the shop and never had any problems. We also have a good receiver in the house with no problems and yet when I got a good...

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

Iron block, I understand what you are saying about standby power but wouldn't that not be the case since the unit is turned off by the plug in timer not the stereo switch? The timer does break the hot side but not the neutral. I checked it with my meter. I do believe the receiver is toast now. I...

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

First, thanks for all the replies. I do have two outdoor speaker tied to the system but the indoor speakers(4) are ceiling mounted between two floors and not on any exterior walls. So far I have not had any speaker damage. As to the no ground rods on the shop sub panel, I thought the only rods...

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

I was not clear sorry, Receiver plugged into time clock, time clock into the surge protector. That way the stereo comes on automatically in the AM and goes off in the PM.

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

The receiver was plugged into the time clock. I checked the clock and it opens and closes the hot side but the neutral is not broken when off. I don't know how to check the surge protector but the green light is still on and it still has power going through it as normal.

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

Yes it does but I am trying to get to the source of the problem if I can. Nothing else seems to get damaged and I can't figure out why.

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

I thought he was speaking about an outside antenna. Yes it has a small wire antenna which is inside the room. No signs of damage to it or the surrounding area.

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

No lights no sound no smell. I took #2 apart and found a blown (burned out ) strip on one of the circuit boards .I was able to solder in a patch wire but that did no good. I did check the small glass fuses (3) and they were all good. I am not good at electronics. Onkyo 8020 I believe. It is...

    Third stereo receiver..lightning

Lightning just took out my third stereo receiver in two years. It is in my shop which is about 150 feet from my main power supply. I have a 100 amp sub panel in the shop fed with a four wire system, two hots, one neutral and one ground. All are run back to the main panel. The shop sub panel...

    GAS tankless water heaters

I have two Rinnai tankless units and I love them. They have been in for about 4 years with no problems. They replaced one 50 gal gas and one 40 gal electric

    Grinding/Sanding Down SikaFlex Control Joints

I don't remember the name but it was in a calk tube and I got it at HD. It was a self level product. It did not harden but ground off smoothly with the Dimabrush. I also used it the same way in a number of hairline cracks with the same results.

    Grinding/Sanding Down SikaFlex Control Joints

I don't want to disagree with the pros here but I used SikaFlex on a cold joint approx. 40 ft long. I slightly overfilled the joint, ground it down with my Dimabrush and then coated the entire floor with Rust Bullet and flakes. You can't see the joint now and the Rust Bullet has adhered to it...

    I think my compressor died

Ok guys first, thanks for all the info. Here's the deal, I had turned the unit off yesterday when it quit. I decided just to check it out again today and I seems to be working fine. Is there some type of auto reset high limit switch or something that would have cut out the compressor after it...
