    Building/Fab ideas

Wow... I can't believe i didn't think of a trailer sooner. Thanks JKM :thumbup: It seems like the perfect project! I can make it as simple or complicated as need be depending on how things are looking throughout the build. I am thinking of a 2 place snowmobile/atv trailer. So i am...

    Building/Fab ideas

Hey Guys! This year is my last year of high school (thank god....) and every senior gets the opportunity to take that last month of school off and devote the time to explore something new, build something, travel, basically dig deeper into something that we really enjoy doing. I really love...

Does every shop have a tech...

It looks like this thread has turned out to be more of the "Does every workplace have/has hired a bonehead" thread. While i don't work specifically in a auto repair shop, i have seen a bunch of boneheads go through the shop that i work at. One of the guys in particular, nicknamed "Flash" was a...

How to cut clean holes in sheet metal?

The way to drill holes in basically any thickness of metal is with a Mag Drill. Does a perfect job, but they are kind of pricey. I have one at my work and and we use it all the time. This is a lower cost one than what we have, we have a $1500 one. The bits are expensive too...

    Dump Trailer Build

You could use a couple of these along the seam where the two doors meet. They are designed for horse stall doors but could be beefed up a bit along the mounts to make it stronger http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/%28gxfgelawqmfwdi45ug0n0lzq%29/productdetails.aspx?sku=998018587&source=GoogleBase...

    Homemade Mufflers???

Recently i have been getting really frusterated with the noise level of my four-wheeler. The muffler has holes in which i have attempted to repair but now they are getting too big to plug. I have tried putting a coffee can around the muffler with steel bands, but that doesn't really do too much...

What to do with a leaky drain plug?

I have a 86 fourtrax ATV that is leaking oil out of the drain plug. The drain plug is tight and their is a o ring on it. If i tighten it more then i'm afraid of stripping the bolt. I'm wondering what you guys would do in this situation? Thanks, Riley

How do you hold pipes in your vise if it doesn't have pipe jaws?

Here is the wooden attachment i put on my Ohio forge Vice. I seems to hold pipes really well. I have been able to clamp 1" to 4" diameter pipes in it. Riley

How do you hold pipes in your vise if it doesn't have pipe jaws?

On my vice it has screws to hold the pads on the jaws. I made an insert out of wood that has the same hole configuration as the pads. Then i notched a vee into the insert. This is by no means would hold up to heavy use or tight clamping, but works fantastic for occasional use. I made this to...

    Stripped threads

Ok, so I bought a 86 honda fourtrax that a friend was selling really cheep because it wouldn't shift gears. I got it home and tinkered with the clutch adjustment screw and got it working. Then as i was tightening up the last nut the threads stripped. Now I've got a nut that won't come off. I...

    Mig as a Wire cutter

I have heard/seen factories using a high voltage wire to cut metal, and am wondering if anyone has ever attempted to do this type of thing using a mig welder with maximum voltage and a high wire speed? I know when you keep the tip in the same spot it burns a hole through the metal. Any reasons...

    Engine Rebuild

I've never rebuilt an engine before and am wondering if there are any tricks or techniques that people use when doing it? This is just something that I've always had an interest in but have never actually done anything about it. :bounce:
