Work is slow, but steady. Trying to get the required electrical installed so it passes inspection. Then I can insulate.

Someday I might pursue permanent benches. For now, I'm going to keep the benches, toolboxes, etc. moveable. Been pricing cabinets vs. building a shelving/cabinet system. Basic, unfinished oak cabinets with 3 doors (54"wide, 24" high, 12" deep) are only $80. I might pick up a couple of those...

Snapped a quick picture before I accumulated junk.

It will get painted, but not until next summer. We'll then paint the house, as well. Jeep fits easily in it. I am working on wiring, bench, and wall cabinet plans that would accommodate two (jeep-sized) vehicles at once (temporarily, of course).

Weather got chilly very quick & had some snow, but still got the roof shingled and siding put on. Here is basically a finished shell with the boxed soffit & trim.

Gives extra room for drywall & garage door opener.

From the kitchen.... Dirt work. ...concrete work done... ...framing & structural work done!

I am not worried about the foundation. It is done. Walls are going up in the morning.

Don't forget about resale. No matter what your 'plans' are in life. I've seen many house hunters uninterested in a house because the garage was 'too small' (usually 12' or 14' wide). Go 16'x24'. Install wall cabinets, etc. The garage could be the entire size of your lot, but it's useless...

City code only requires that concrete is placed on engineered backfill (compacted gravel bed), and slab perimeter must be 8" deep by 16" wide. Frost line is not an issue as much as unstable ground material.

I could have gone bigger, but this was a practical size ($$$). If Ohio is midwest, then I AM THE WEST! South Dakota. :) I plan to pour concrete from the existing driveway to the front corners of the garage. A deck will be attached to the rear of the house, over the walkway.
