    4 Post car lift ???????

I have been pretty happy with my Atlas. It is about 7 years old now and has seen quite a bit of use; probably more than it should. I bought it from Greg Smith Equipment. It is not anchored to the floor.

4 Post hydraulic lift question ?

Do a search for SPX/Stone and look at their breathers. I don't believe a sintered bronze unit will be large enough. Most breathers on small power units are at least 1/2NPT thread.

4 Post hydraulic lift question ?

The tank cap you refer to is most likely the breather. I am unable to post photos on this site for some reason otherwise I could nail it down better for you. The breather is usually made of plastic for these units and has NPT (pipe thread) on the stem which screws into the top of the tank. If...

4 Post hydraulic lift question ?

There may be some sort of temporary dust plug in the breather. But as stated above, the breather is not breathing. That should be obvious to the vendor. You should be able to blow through it easily if it is not defective. I would like to see a photo of it; never heard of this happening and just...

New 4 post lift hydraulic fluid recommendations?

AW32 or AW46. The 32 can be a bit difficult to find as the 46 is pretty much an industrial standard and the 32 is a bit thin for those applications. I have been using 46 in my Atlas for about 4 years simply because it is readily available and I live in a fairly mild climate so the heavier oil...

Alternative to bendpak rj45 rolling jack?

Direct Lift has a jack for just under $600. I have been trying to determine if it will work with my Atlas 8000 lift. The dimensions are given are difficult to understand.

Atlas Garage Pro 8000 vs Atlas Apex 8

Good point on frequency of use. I often think I overuse mine but then there are times such as this winter that it goes for weeks or longer w/o being used. One of my cars has been on it sitting about 4 feet off the ground for about two months without any use at all. I am hoping it will help keep...

Atlas Garage Pro 8000 vs Atlas Apex 8

I have had a GP 8000 for about 5 years or so and am quite happy with it. It had a lot of up and down cycling with a heavy 62 Impala during a motor/trans rebuild but I had no issues. I probably use it more than I should but I keep the cables and bearings lubricated on a regular basis. I did...

Bend pack lift motor/pump slower, making odd noise--rebuild?

See if you can look into the tank where the filter/breather is and see if the oil is foamy or milky in appearance. There could be a suction strainer on the pump inlet which will cause a sound like marbles in a tin can if it is dirty. It would be more pronounced with cold oil. But of course make...

    4 post cylinder leakage ?

Mine leaked first from a loose fitting. Easy fix. Then after less than a year it began to leak from the rod end threaded cap. The seal was probably damaged on assembly. Removed the cylinder and got a kit for it from the dealer thinking it is most likely metric. Got it fixed. It has been fine for...

MaxJax Hydraulic Flow Divider has leaking bolts

Best to go to the Mfr for sure. Probably a simple oring issue. If they get torn oil has a slim path to the bolt holes. My new Atlas lift had a bad seal on the cylinder rod-end head and leaked. I am still curious about the lack of port reliefs.

MaxJax Hydraulic Flow Divider has leaking bolts

Most likely an oring was pinched or damaged on assembly by whoever built the divider. It should be a simple fix as there are not a lot of moving parts in one of these. Is there a manufacturer's name on the tag? I have never seen one with through- bolts and retaining nuts. The center section is...

    Another Northwesterner

I reside near Longview, WA. I am a 68 year old retiree and play with a 62 Impala, 66 Malibu and 66 Chevy 2. I spent my career in the hydraulics industry working in steel mills, saw mills, paper, food processing and some mobile equipment. My shop is my retirement, being a single guy and I don't...
