Garage shelves close to being done - final few strength questions

Thanks to the fantastic advice on this forum, I am almost done with the garage shelves. I decided to go with a simple structure. - vertical 2x4 on the back garage wall with 4 inch grip rite structural screws. 5 on each stud. - horizontal 2x4 to form the back base for shelves - 2 screws on...

Garage shelves using 2x4 as brackets

I saw the design at https://woodgears.ca/shelves/garage.html#google_vignette and really liked that there is no front support making it cleaner. 1 change to simplify I thought I would check with this forum -- Instead of the 1x4 sandwiching a 2x2, I was wondering if I could just attach a 2x4...

My post went from approved - and folks posted, to back to awaiting approval?

Yes, clarified my question with a few edits... Will every edit cause my post to go into mod approval? Is there something in my post that is triggering it? Happy to change if I inadvertently did something wrong....

    2 feet deep brackets?

@niget2002 - yes that's how I'm thinking I would make it work! 2 independent tracks, with 6 feet wide doors that I can simply move aside. @Dig Doug - do you think this will work? Using 2 independent tracks takes away the complexity of bypass door issues with such a long length. I created a new...

    2 feet deep brackets?

Hi Doug, Why wouldn't double doors work? I'm thinking it's 28 feet, so can do like 5.X sized doors and split it between the tracks?

Best way to join a 2x4 with 2x6 another at a 90 degree angle

I have 10 foot ceilings in the garage and I'm planning on adding wooden shelving, so I will have a fairly robust structure in place lag bolted to the garage walls. I want to add barn doors to cover the storage shelves - and leave 1 feet of space between the door and shelves for any bulky...

Thanks everyone, appreciate the helpful comments and suggestions. Looks like I'm going to build wooden shelves and call it good.

    2 feet deep brackets?

Nice! One advantage of this is that I could potentially do overhangs on the top and then hang the barn doors on it.

    2 feet deep brackets?

They would be wall mounted, so not really a concern

    2 feet deep brackets?

Your image here is very close to what I wanted to do initially. My wife disliked the look of this similar one I built in the previous garage.... and so I pivoted to metal shelves, with the added advantage of it being easy to change.
