    Tools of Japan

I agree with the above...not a fan of Wera's hex/torx stuff. The color-coding/cases are nice (and I really like the sleeves on the L-keys), but that's about it . The holding function is annoying, and the Hex-Plus is too extreme and just ends up damaging everything that they touch. Especially...

    Tools of Japan

I'll second the Vessel 9900E. I've been using them on old Japanese film cameras lately, and they have been great. The fitment is fantastic.

    Hex key deep dive

Under high-torque situations, yes, Wear does a better job of limiting damage to the fastener. It's the "normal" lower-torque fasteners that I find that they destroy if you are adjusting them with any kind of regularity. Such as seat post clamps, stems, cleat bolts, and even thru-axles, to a...

    Hex key deep dive

I've been amassing several different brands/types of hex's lately, so I figure I'll share my thoughts/opinions on the matter. Here is a group shot of some of my go-to items; First up, let's talk about PB Swiss...personally, I don't think that they live up to the hype. There, I said it...

Anyone have any experience with Garant wrenches? Made in Germany.

Garant is the house brand of the Hoffmann Group, and, as mdrawde alluded to, their items are all rebranded goods from other (high-end) manufactures...Stahlwille, PB Swiss, and Koken to name a few. Holex is another house brand of theirs, and is usually a step below the Garant stuff.

    Tools of Japan

I have some of the 9900's, and while they haven't seen a ton of use, I do enjoy them. The handle shape feels great in the hand and provides good feedback, so I wouldn't worry about overtightening by accident. Then the tips are typical Vessel quality. All in all, great little drivers, and...

Help me find a bit set

I have several of the Wera socket/bit sets, and while they are very convenient, and the ratchet/sockets are pretty good, I'm not a fan of their bits. The hex bits destroy everything they touch, and the phillips cam out too easily, especially when compared to other Euro/German brands. My...

A delievery from KC Tool...Hazet hex goodies, Felo awl and tack claw, Heyco screwdrivers (because green) and wrenches, and a single Gedore 7 because I was curious.

    German tools

I've never heard of them before, and usually go through KC Tools or Amzon.de, but I just placed an ordered after seeing your link. I will say, however, that their website isn't very confidence inspiring...it's extremely dated looking, home page lists a lot of brands that they don't sell...

Another Amazon Japan order. I didn't really need anything, but the price on the Z-series sockets was too good to pass up. Then, of course, I had to pick up a few more things to make shipping worthwhile. Full order is: Nepros 1/4 sliding T-handle and 150mm extension Koken 23mm 1/2 socket (I...

    Tools from the old world

I'm very interested in the Hazet 600's (big fan of their sockets/ratchets), but unfortunately they are too expensive for what will essentially be a backup set of wrenches. They are also thicker than both the Stahlwille 13's and the Gedore 7's, and I'd really like something on the slimmer side...

    Tools from the old world

Does anyone have any hands-on experience with both Gedore and Stahlwille wrenches that could share their thoughts on the two? I currently have a set of Stahlwille 14 series and some 17 ratcheting wrenches that I am very happy with, but have come across several situations where the offsets on...

    Best Ratchets?

I recently got a selection of Hazet 90T's and I really enjoy them, as well. They are what I reach for first lately, with Koken and Nepros close behind.

I didn't know about it either. I was searching for decent price on the other set, and came across it...and I'm very glad I did. Hopefully you can get your hands on it for a good price, too. I have plenty of the other sockets from other brands, as well, but I've become a big fan of their hex...

That is the 3/8 set that I was really after, but yah...I too cannot justify the price. But, then I stumbled upon the other one for a really good price, and had to have it. I'll just pick up the hex sockets separately. I got it from Amazon US, via Amazon UK, for $155 with free shipping. I...

I have no idea...I don't know if they made it with something in particular in mind, or if they just didn't want to leave that much unused space? I planning on getting some hex sockets, so I'll probably make a little foam insert for them, and fill the pocket with it.

I had to complete the set... 3/8" Hazet socket set. Unfortunately, it was poorly packed so a lot of the sockets bounced loose, and left some pretty ugly detents in the foam. And the upside down laser markings are setting of my OCD. Other than that, I continue to be impressed by Hazet.
