I have a Charles Parker swivel base No. 973 1/2 A. The main body was broke, but everything else was good and the pieces sold off, but I still have the swivel base (Stamped #973 1/2A). I believe it matches up to several 3.5 " models.

Finished up a Reed 105 R tonight. 4 hole fixed base - dual oil ports - 1936 patent date - flat nosed spindle. After stripping and wire brushing, I used acid etching primer then Rustoleum Satin Sapphire blue spray enamel and silver automotive touch up for the lettering.

Freshly cleaned up Reed 224 1/2 R Coach Makers vise. 4.5" jaws and an 11" opening. 78lbs. Flat nose, 4 hole swivel, & dual oil ports. It had 5 coats of paint on it so I used aircraft paint remover and then a wire wheel to clean it off (mostly) and then used Corrosion X on it to "seal" it and...

Thanks for the tip, I was wondering what to do if I decide to wire brush my RI 572 as I didn't want to damage the Britman tag.

Thanks for all the great info in this thread! I have learned a ton! Bought 3 vises in the last week (Reed No 224 1/2 R, Rock Island No 672, & a Powr-Kraft 5445). The Reed is undergoing break down and cleaning, the Rock Island was cleaned up and then oiled and left with it's patina, the...

    Another vise ID thread...

Picked a Powr-Kraft up this week and found the same thing. It's a private labeled Milwaukee Tool Model 765 for Montgomery Wards. Made in USA too! They are still in business as well! http://www.milwtool.com/v_work.htm Pics of my restoration (after) attached.
