    Re-taping or Repairing Old Drywall

Why can't you overlay the whole garage in MDF if that's what you want to do? Before I spent much time messing with old drywall work I'd probably overlay it with 1/4" or 3/8 drywall and finish it right.

Do I keep These Odd Steel Doors?

Dump their asses! Maybe a movie studio will by them for their next 50's themed TV show!

    Old Pepsi Cooler Problems

Make/model of the machine would help. I've refurbed a few of the old Dixie Narco and Vendo machines over the year. As A-duh mentioned, thermostat could be the culprit but also could be cooling fan, compressor, etc. Check out forums like vending chat and soda-jerks for more info.

Converting a garage to living space

As someone in the real estate profession, you will regret converting the garage when time comes to sell. Not saying don't do it, just make sure it can all be undone easily. Leave the garage door operable and just build a faux wall inside. ' How about building a raised floor over the existing...

Stores that sell 4" wide x 18' long rubber strips?

Go to an RV parts supplier, rubber similar to that is often used for slide-out seals. Sometimes it is even more of a neoprene/foam type which may seal better.

Do you let your friends use your lift ?

I have two friends that I would let use it or my whole shop, anytime, no questions asked. Of course those are the best kind of friends because they never ask! A couple others I let use it as long as I'm there or we are doing a project. I've let my daughter and her boyfriend use it but she's...

Anyone with a wood burning stove in detached garage?

Also consider that most states require that homes being sold must have the stoves be EPA certified, if not the seller usually has to remove it. An appraiser will look for an EPA tag.

Roll up door for kids room

Look up storage unit doors. I see them come up regularly on Craigslist around here. A 4' door with hardware seems to go for about $100.

Anyone know where I can buy a soft rubber block?

Go to an industrial rubber or hose supply store. They will have chunks of hose and chafe guards that should work. Maybe even pieces of conveyor material?

    Internet in the boondocks

We have Exede/Wildblue and it's **** service and the customer support is terrible! We've also had Hughes and it was as bad or worse. I'd be thrilled to have consistent 1M speeds at this point!

    Repurposing old pots and pans.

I use muffin tins for holding small parts on big projects. Pie pans get used to catch oil drips when changing seals, etc.

    how stable are two-pole lifts?

Assuming the car is placed correctly, I feel very stable working under my Atlas 10k lift. I always give it a robust shake text once the wheels clear the ground. If I'm doing something that would require shifting large amounts of weight or prying then I add a couple harbor freight under hoist...

    Radon in basement/open windows

Hmm, I gave your response serious thought until I saw who published the map! Have to take anything the EPA says with a grain of iodized salt. :D

    Radon in basement/open windows

Funny how we've been living in houses for hundreds of years and didn't know about radon. Guess ignorance is bliss? Also funny is the fact that I don't think I've ever heard of anybody dying from radon. Sounds like a lot of hoopla and a way to make a fast buck.

"other" uses for a 2 post lift

Used it to unload 72" roller chest from back of the pickup. Used it to raise riding lawnmower for deck replacement and service.

Neodymium magnet uses for tool organizing

I glue small neodymium magnets to the bridge of my safety glasses then stick them to the grinder, drill press, table saw, etc. That way there is always a pair of glasses in reach and they don't get scratched by sitting on the shelf.
