    Extra conduit for power

Yes to pex. 3/4 inch so it doesn’t restrict the flow too much. I was Going to correct it to the hose bib, basically making the pex an underground hose. No need to cut into the plumbing.

    Extra conduit for power

Hopefully nothing; knowing the county government, they are Understaffed so a quick response is unlikely. I won’t be filling in the ditch until the weekend so I have time.

    Extra conduit for power

Thank you both; I’ll give them a call tomorrow and see what my options are. Given the extremes this state goes with rules, my bet is that they’ll want to see it before any dirt touches it. Really makes planning ahead difficult.

    4 post lift wiring questions...110 vs 220?

I have a Bendpak 4 post lift and have a 240 and 120 power unit. 240 is significantly faster, it seem to take a long time at 120 because I started with 240 and then installed 120 in the new house with no 240 access. I have 240 access now but too lazy to switch. Once or twice a Week, I’ll live...

    Extra conduit for power

I have a detached garage that has enough power for now and no need to upgrade. It’s has a 10 gauge and now that I have 240, it’s enough. I may need more one day, don’t know for what or How much. I am digging an trench from the house to the garage for water line for the front of garage. Tired...

    Garage loft stairs

According to woodbeamcalculator.com with 30 live load, 20 feet span, double 2x12 allows for 28 inch spacing for joists. I’m assuming that if all joists in a floor can be treated like this (28 oc doubles up) then it’s okay to do it for just two and go to 16 oc for the rest? That gives about 25...

    Garage loft stairs

I would love to go with 40 inches and use pre-made stairs that I have but that is a lot of open space. It would need 2 joists removed From half the width of the garage vs 1 for the 24 inch model.

    Garage loft stairs

I used 30pound live load for my back of the envelop calculations, Storage will be typical garage stuff, hand tools and extra junk. mostly spread around the perimeter. The area around this opening will be empty.

    Garage loft stairs

I have a 20x25 detached garage with a loft. Loft floor joists are 2x12 OC 16 inches and span the 20 foot width. Previous owner installed a 24x48 cutout for pull down stairs, installed perpendicular to the joists so three joists were cut. Double Stringers and headers were used. I would like...

    Bendpak 4-post lift 240v to 120 options

I have a bendpak hd-7w and don’t have 240 in the garage in the new house. There was a 240 outlet but found out it was installed very incorrectly and not safe. It looks like 12 gauge buried in a conduit about two inches below ground. So I will pull 240 in the future but it will be a while. I...

    Recommendation for tig welder

Based on recommendations from 914 forums, here, and a friend who welds I am looking at Miller 141 or 211. I’m going to local welding store tomorrow, see if they have good deals. Prefer 211, lighter and dual voltage but haven’t seen used under $1000. I’ve seen a couple of 141 used on eBay for...

    Recommendation for tig welder

Why the recommendation to stay away from plasma combinations? I’ve asked him, his recommendation was to ask guys that are doing the type of body work I need to do. He prefers the combination as his backup and portable unit, for his shop he has standalone units. He even runs it on 120 extension...

    Best Ratchet Tie Down ?

I have older ones from HF that I really like. They occasionally have them in stock. Decent quality. I also got some Erickson recently, three times the price and slightly better than HF.

    Recommendation for tig welder

I know this is asked a lot but that itself makes searches hard. I am restoring my old Porsche 914, and have rust repair and body panel surgery in my future, months away. About a year ago and based on advice from here I started learning to weld using junkyard car hoods and doors. Mostly tig...

    Floor recommendation

I am closing on a house built in 1900 with a two car garage that was added sometime later, likely 50’s. House and a garage are very well maintained and look authentic for the time period. Garage has concrete floor and interior is unfinished. Very utilitarian. What would be an appropriate look...
