    The VISES of Garage Journal

After reading about everyone's finds, I decided to have a look at CL, and found a guy who is selling a bunch of Columbian Vises. I am going over to have a look at what he has. From his ad, he shows a D45 for $90, a D46 for $110, and what looks like a few 3.5 and 5" vises for between $20 and...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

You just ruined my day man. Great find for you though. All my local scrap yards are not letting anyone in to poke around, some BS about people stealing stuff and then reselling it to the yards. I am not sure I could move a piece of I beam out of the yard in my tool bag. Anyway, great find.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I did not think of that when I saw it. I am thinking I am going to have to let this one go in favor of a metal working vise. I really do like it, but I need something that I can do work with. Thanks for the heads up Outlaw. Ron

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I think the Morgan will be bare steel. That way it shows off the character, and gives an insight as to the life it had lived. I will put something together for the electrolysis thread. I had a question about a vise that I just saw on CL. It is a brinnell vise. I did not see this one...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I have been using electrolysis for years (comes with owning an MGB) on various parts, from lower A frames, to Russian PPs-43 barrel shrouds. I tried all of the battery charger options, and I think you will find that they have a tendency to detect a short and turn themselves off. If you can...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I am figuring it will look better naked, once I grind away all of that lovely puke yellow paint. Now I just need to find a stand for it. Time to read the vise repair 101 thread. Ron

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I just picked up this monster for about a dollar a pound. It is a Morgan model 38. It is a 4.5 inch x 10 inch 75lb vise. It turns smooth, and looks good, except for the paint. Now I get to take it all apart. It is kind of huge for my purposes, but the price was right.

    Outlaw's Garage sale - Feedback

Purchased two books from Outlaw, and they arrived in great condition. They were packed to withstand a nuclear blast. Thanks for the great books, and I hope to do business again. Ron

    2014 Garage sale thread!

I was sniffing around at one of our local thrift stores, and saw a little red box sitting on a shelf. I have had some machinist training, so anything in a Starrett box is probably good. What I found was one of the last word indicators. The picture shown is missing a few pieces, but a couple of...

    FNG Checking In

Greetings All, I found your site while looking for home built tools. I have been lurking for a while, and I find the site to be great. I am an eternal tinkerer, whether it is cars, guns or electronics (nixie clocks). I hope that I will be able to add something to this wonderful site. Thanks...
