    Apprenticeship ratchets

Snap-on because of the fine teeth. They make it MUCH easier to do almost anything with a ratchet. Its really hard to explain, but the slack in a craftsman makes ratcheting harder, while the tight fine teeth of a snap-on make your movements count more. But let me warn you, a Snap-on ratchet WILL...

    Tire changer hands free clamp

When you mount a low profile or run flat tire, it helps to hold the tire down far enough where it has enough room to stretch on. The top of the wheel has a lip that the tire uses to stay mounted onto the wheel, and if you don't push the tire down far enough you can damage the tire. These little...

Alignment of Vehicle after replacing ball joints

Toe adjustment is mandatory if replacing ANYTHING steering or suspension related. Camber will affect toe, but toe wont affect camber. Even tough the piece being replaced isn't adjustable, it can still affect other alignment angles.

Alignment of Vehicle after replacing ball joints

Take it somewhere to have it done professionally, and have them print out the measurements before they touch the car, then have them print out the measurements after they align it, any professional shop should do this without you having to ask. I work as an Auto Tech and I can tell you it...

    Those with SO PWZs....

I have the Pwz1 and the Pwz2 and the 2 gets used most often on alignments, especially big trucks with the relay rod setup. The 1 gets used mostly for frozen tie rods, and the 2 when i need some more muscle to get the job done.

    Where can I find these?

Harbor Freight. 3 piece set for under $10. http://www.harborfreight.com/3-piece-sae-socket-trayorganizer-68100.html Also, Sears does sell Hansen trays but for around $12 per tray. I find the harbor freight ones work better, i like pushing my sockets to the back of my top extra tall drawer, and...

Can an impact gun work good in one direction and not the other?

I'm guessing they are open end lug nuts, where part of the stud is exposed. The ends of the studs usually get rusted up and take some effort all the way through to remove them. Running them on requires some effort part of the time, but not always depending on the severity of the rust.

Can an impact gun work good in one direction and not the other?

Yes. When they're torqued down they take effort to remove, and when you spin them on by hand all the gun is doing is free spinning until it reaches the wheel, where the gun starts to torque it. At 140 ft lbs the lug nuts are pretty tight, up there among the highest torque required for every day...

    New Box Under Student Discount?

If you find a Snap-On Classic 78 for a steal and a Snap-On Classic 60 for a not-so-great steal, don't skip out on the better deal. I currently have a 55" Harbor Freight box (Comparable size to the Classic 78) and I've only been in the business for about 10 working months now. It's a good size...

The CT661 came in today off the snap-on truck. I was off today so haven't gotten a chance to properly use it, but I'll give it a good trial run as soon as possible!

    which impact wrench? your opinions

The gun would run on its own if plugged into an air line. Not too familiar with the insides of air tools but I'm sure it was some kind of seal. Probably didn't help that i over oiled the holy hell out of it! Thankfully i had a warranty on it through sears and got it warrantied, then gave it to...

    which impact wrench? your opinions

I had a 231c steel body and it blew after 6 months of auto tech use. Your ears WILL be blown by this gun. I was FORCED to upgrade to a 2131QT. My ears began to ring every time i used the 231c. Go for the 2131QT ($180 online at sears LINK) or even better the 2135QT (My next gun $285 online at...

    snap on question

You don't have to hit the button to release it, and doesn't get in the way in very tight areas. I personally don't like quick release, I prefer the sleek look of friction style ratchets. A lot of people however love quick release. It really is handy when your covered in grease, and takes minimal...

    air tool oil

I remember a manager at my previous shop telling me a story of a tech using pb blaster in 3 guns, and they all failed each soon after the other. I've never tried it but that's just what I was told. I personally use marvel mystery air tool oil. Also be very careful with the stuff! I ruined an...
