    Roof De-icing

I bought an existing house about 10 yrs ago. 3 stories, a 12/12 pitch roof. I'm not getting on top of this place to do anything. I've had ice jam up between 2 peaks in the past.... WTF the builder built the roof with such a valley in it is stupid. So now what I do is pick up a package of women's...

"Datsun Ranch" - My 68x40 garage / shop in Arizona

When I saw the thread subject, I wondered if someone was really collecting old Datsuns. Figured it would be like a Datsun junkyard. But you have some nice ones! That 510 is badass! First truck I ever had was a 74 pickup with the L18 & 4 sp in it. By the time I unloaded it, it had the SSS L18, a...

    Shops with living quarters

I just ran across this place for sale in a nearby town. No pics of the shop space but he says it's 30' x 30'. Looks like a 2 story height pole building with a front built to look like a more conventional home. The apartment space is done really nice.

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

I knew the price when I bought the house & so did they. If you don't agree with it, then move somewhere else.

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

Actually, I looked it up. And unless the road is marked, the post office doesn't have any legal recourse other than to not deliver the mail. So pressure from the neighbors is really about the only reason they have to not park by the mailbox. The stupid thing is the fact that they bought a...

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

Recently we had some new folks move into our neighborhood. They have 3 Subarus, 3 pickup trucks & a flatbed trailer. Their garage is full of other things, and the driveway will only hold 2 cars. Plus the community mailbox is in front of the house. The mailman was having problems trying to...

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

Hahah, the HOA "steals" $25 from me every quarter. $100 a year. Times 53 owners. That money covers all the maintenance of 14 acres of green belt, a playground, forest & a 300' x 100' beach & boat ramp. Absolute nonsense, isn't it?! :wtf:

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

I've never heard of a "township" around here. Your either inside the city limits or outside of it, which is part of the county. The neighborhoods I described above is in the county. The county has rules about what you can & can't do, but they don't say anything about whether or not you can have...

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

The point of that particular rule is so that we don't have cars on jackstands/ramps, old blue tarps, no hood or 1/2 painted for days or weeks on end. A nearby neighborhood has this exact problem with several neighbors..... even the county has had to get involved there. Our HOA is a waterfront...

    HOA vs HOME MECHANIC

Read the rules. Our HOA says "no long term projects, ie; more than 3 days, in the front driveway or on the street". There are no rules about projects in the back yard or in the garage. And if all I'm doing is changing the oil or a brake job, then I get it done & don't let it sit out 1/2 done...

    Covered entryway pics/ plans

Somewhere I saw the idea to have a drive thru carport in front of the house, driveway has 2 aprons at the street, doubles as covered entry to the home. I guess it's a pretty popular idea in Honolulu, where it rains everyday. Seems like it would be good in the winter too. Now every house I look...

    The Coolest Toolbox??

I've always been kind of fascinated with the converted ambulances out there. I've got pictures of a few that were used as a mobile brewery, camper & toy hauler. No doubt they are very utilitarian, have lots of compartments to store things. Fill it full of tools & technically it's a tool box. And...

    36x38 Shop Build in SouthEast

Wow, gonna be a gorgeous setup. So I'm curious. It looks like the rafters are super tall, creating the peaked roof. But there is no useable space inside there. Being in Alabama, you don't need the snow load. Is it just for the look of it or ??

    Shops with living quarters

I just ran across this place today. He's a 1/2 block or so off the main road I ride to/from work. So I saw the little Café recently & had to check it out a little closer. I don't have any real details, but it's listed in the county records as a 1600 sq ft & a 3k sq ft building (one is behind the...

    Cordless lawn equipment

I have a Craftsman push mower that is 12 yrs old. I've never even changed the oil in it. It pull starts first time, everytime (if you prime it first). But I've gone thru 3 weedeaters in that time frame..... 2 electric & 1 gas. They all ran fine, but the spools foul up & need to be replaced...
