    Little Garage on the Prairie

Hey everyone! I've been lurking on this site now for the past few months, after being sent a link to BB767's "Restored 1930's Auto Shop" thread. I figure it's about time to post up my little winter project, a 24'x30' 2 car garage with 10' high ceilings. Doors are 10' wide by 8' high. Most of...

Above 1200 Sq/FT So I don't Have a Title but here we go

Been reading over your door issues, I almost ran into a similar issue with my doors. I just had my framing inspection done this week, everything was good and I got approval to start closing it up, but he did point out one "potential issue". I used double cripples on either side of the header of...

Above 1200 Sq/FT So I don't Have a Title but here we go

I was thinking of creating a build thread, but, I'm only building the garage to raise my property value, so I can get a better price when I sell. I almost feel like I'm building it for someone else, which I guess is what I'm technically doing. Once I move back to Manitoba, I'll be building a...

Above 1200 Sq/FT So I don't Have a Title but here we go

Thanks, I mostly just lurk here, looking for inspiration. Its supposed to get above freezing here today, so I'm going to try tackling my ridge cap today. First though I'm putting a wood stove in and blasting the heat to it. With no insulation, vapor barrier or drywall in the way, I'm hoping to...

Above 1200 Sq/FT So I don't Have a Title but here we go

Looks like its coming along well despite the weather. Are you planning to do tin or shingles? I went with tin, now I've given up on getting my ridge cap on til spring, way to slippery!

I noticed your location is Manitoba, if you don't mind me asking, what area? I plan to move back there next spring and will be building a shop, not looking forward to all the red tape.
