    L Shaped Garage layout

The L shape layout also worked best for my garage due to the slope of the lot and the position of the existing barn and underground utilities. To make efficient use of the corner space, I had the center section angled at 45 degrees from the two wings. That allowed easy access to the center...

    The Concrete Underground

Arckit has software that can be used for designing structures before building, and their website indicates that they will be offering 3D print accessories and components in the very near future. Once you can 3D print your own unique pieces for the system, that should eliminate all the design...

    The Concrete Underground

I finally made it through all 149 pages! That is an amazing home and garage. I'm looking forward to seeing more interior pictures now that the build is pretty much complete.

    The Concrete Underground

Thanks. They do have to standardize pieces to enable the components to go together quickly and be reusable. Thats why it's limited to a 90 degree corner and a 45 degree corner. Remember, that model went together in a single evening. Curved walls are also available, but those are limited to a 8'...

    The Concrete Underground

I stumbled across this thread 3 days ago. It's been an amazing journey watching the progress of this build. I would hate to admit how much time I have already spent reading the first 110 pages. I still have 40 pages and 4 1/2 years to go to catch up. The advantage for me is that I don't have to...

Dilemma: Need engineered plans just to get price quotes

Who ever supplies the lumber is likely to be spending alot of time quoting the materials, especially if your plans didn't come with a materials list. Unless the supplier is reasonably certain they will get the order, they likely won't want to waste their time, especially if you are undecided on...

    Ask Rapidair!

I have the Rapidair 3/4" Maxline in my garage. The garage has only been complete and operational for a few months, but the Rapidair system has been performing well and looks good. I have the air compressor in a separate section of the garage, so in my case, we ran the line through the wall.

If you had access to a 3D printer and knowledge of CAD what would you make?

Well, I would want a 3D scanner too. Then I would try to reproduce long discontinued parts for my cars. A buddy reproduced the hood and trunk lettering for 67 & 69 Dodge Coronets by scanning clean originals. The scans were then cleaned up using CAD, then 3D printed. The 3D printed pieces were...

    VA Garage Gang

Weather has turned cold here in Virginia, but still able to go out and play in the garage. This will be my first winter with the new garage. Might actually get some things done on the cars over the winter this year.

    Mice and garage couch

I was also concerned about the possibility of mice getting into furniture. I also wanted chairs I could mop under and wipe down when they get a layer of shop dust on them. Always liked mid century modern architecture, so a couple of "barcelona style" vinyl chairs off Amazon fit perfectly with my...

All this work and she says "it's only a garage!"

Re: All this work and she say's "it's only a garage!" Hope the shared space isn't her just filling it up with the contents of a couple self storage units. She should at least understand that to you its usable space and not just a big storage bin.

    Hello from Northern VA

Welcome from another northern Virginia member (though I'm a bit farther west then you). Nice Chevelle. Always thought that was the best color and stripe combination for a 69.

    Garages at Night Thread

There was a one off factory show car in 68 or 69 that had that roof on a 68 or 69 Thunderbird. Always thought it would be cool to recreate that look by putting '68-'69 T bird front fenders, hood, grille and front bumper, & 68 tail lights, on a 70 Thunderbird Sportsroof.

    Garages at Night Thread

Cool. Looks like a 1970 Thunderbird. Don't know why, but I've only ever seen that roof line on the 70 Thunderbird coupe (the first year for that roofline). All the 71 T bird coupes I've seen have the more formal roof line carried over from the 1969 Thunderbird. Most of the cars in my pictures...

    Garages at Night Thread

Thanks. The garage is done except for the final grading around the outside. The 8'x12' wall paper mural is from Heffron's, and depicts a Friday evening cruise in at the Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Drive in Burbank, CA where there have been cruise in's since the 1950's...

    Garages at Night Thread

Thanks. Its a bit harder than I thought to get good pics at night of the outside. I took a few more pictures tonight though. The white Fury sitting by itself, died on the way to the drive in theatre tonight. It just arrived home courtesy of a rollback sent by AAA. Was glad the driver was able to...

I'll have to try again. I'm sure I can get a better night time shot than this.
