Antique Hallicrafter WR-600 Tube Shortwave Radio

Bump. I will be out of the country until next Friday, so if you don't hear back from me that is why. I've gotten a couple of PM's the last few days and have responded, but I wanted people to know if they sent a PM, the reason is I have no access to reliable internet.

Antique Hallicrafter WR-600 Tube Shortwave Radio

For sale is one Hallicrafter WR-600 Tube Shortwave radio. I electronically restored this unit to perfect working condition. Pulls in AM stations like a magnet, and even without a proper shortwave antenna, I was able to pull in stations, better at night of course. I did no restoration to the...

    Adam Savages Shop

those are almost exactly like the HF boxes, except the trays inside are longer. Totally doable. http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/bins-containers/19-bin-portable-parts-storage-case-93928.html they also have other ones with different sized trays. I use one for capacitors on my...

Hey there For sale I have a late 50s (I think its a 57, but don't quote me on that) Zenith K-731 AM/FM tube radio for sale. I restored this unit to perfect working condition. Pulls in stations like a magnet. I did not do too much restoration to the case, as I happen to like the "aged" look it...

    What's your workbench look like?

Kevin: I doubt its a Gerstner. Cheaper knock off, I think. The sliding front door is particle board. When I do the resto, I'll check for a maker's mark. I've got a set of brass latches for it. I need to make a new sliding cover, sand and stain. This box will get a restored once I finish my old...

    What's your workbench look like?

Because I live in New England, year round outdoor projects are a no-go, and since I have no garage, I can't work on car projects all year long either. I needed to keep myself busy during the winter. Aside from cleaning out the workshop/basement this winter, I went and put together an...

    Help rebuilding a rectifier bridge.

the orange ones are capacitors, likely in the .0XXX microfarad range - they are most likely polypropylene film capacitors, and the yellow one is an electrolytic capacitor, >40 microfarads, most likely. The black things are the diodes. The orange capacitors will be ~$1 (or less) each, the...

    Battery Tender Cord Reel

Check electronic supply houses that cater to audio and video broadcast, like Markertek. They got allll types of wire reels meant for a/v wire but work fine for everything else. Just make sure if you get something meant for video cable at say, 25ft go up in size to compensate for wire diameter...

    recommend an electric impact

I love my craftsman c3. Grab a second battery. It doesn't have bone shattering torque like some of the more expensive ones, but for everything I've used it for on my Cherokee and trans am, it is sufficient. Granted I don't work all day everyday with it or make my money with it. If that's the...

Hand Tools Xuron flush cutters, pliers etc

Made in Saco, Maine. I just picked up a pair of flush cutters, seem to be well made. Haven't gotten much use out of them yet, but for less than $8 on amazon, even if they only last 6 months, I'm happy. They've got an assortment of different flush cutters and pliers. Highly recommend.

Can you buy a nice tape measure?

I have a fatmax and an old craftsmen all metal 25'x1" that's great. Beat up, but its real sturdy and takes the abuse. I have another one laying around somewhere.

    Solder or Crimp?

I meant no disrespect, just a good natured jab. Crimps have their place, just like soldering and wire nuts. Some cases it just comes down to personal preference. I haven't had to buy an iron in forever. I know my dad just bought a new Weller for his bench at the local TV studio, said it only...

Craftsman raised panel wrenches are now being made in China with pics

True, but I can't afford the new prices for everything. I'll buy new stuff where I can, don't get me wrong. And when I buy new, I try the best I can to get USA made. Its the snap-on stuff and that ilk that I can't always afford to buy brand new, and I'm not terribly worried about Snap-On going...

Craftsman raised panel wrenches are now being made in China with pics

I just traded in my 1/4" and 3/8" ratchets the other day at sears, and I got USA made refurbs in return. Everything on the shelf was made in china and the nicer ones made in taiwan. Sockets seem to all still be made in the USA. I'm slowly upgrading to the big boy brands as i go, buying used...

    Solder or Crimp?

I grew up with a father who fixed TVs, Radios, etc. for a living, as well as being a broadcast engineer for a radio station and a local TV station. I also grew up with a father who knew how to fix just about everything. So I learned to solder and wire various things very young, and I like to...

Local Sears Closing - Which Tool to switch to?

You can get a lot of Armstrong stuff from Amazon. Get a prime account and everything is to you in 2 days for free, shorter time if a distro center is near you. I find their prices are better than Fastenal a lot of the time.
