    Which brand?

harbor freight is the better of all the truck brands, you can buy snap on at sears for pretty cheap, but they are all chinese junk. the best bang for the buck is the new line of craftsman tools, they are by far the best of all.

Safety devices on professional grade tools

And that's how milwaukee recon tools happen.

i suppose in this situation you are correct, but in most machinery where there is no battery and the input power is line voltage, the controller protection would stand true, im sure the switch/controller assembly in the brushless drill is not that expensive of a part(could still be wrong).

And that's how milwaukee recon tools happen.

its not like the brushed motors where you can hook the battery up directly to the motor and it will spin, brushless dc is a whole new(not the new) world of motors and motor controls. the motor needs your dc voltage to be converted into Pulse Width Modulation(similar to AC, but isn't) through 3...

And that's how milwaukee recon tools happen.

its protecting the stator, and the speed control. they have FET's that produce a ton of heat when the motor is running hot. if you drive any type of motor(brushless dc being the most intricate) there is lots of heat from current, and then the fets burn up(which im assuming is part of the switch...
