I kinda wonder if maybe those were some kind of apprenticeship project for metal-fab guys way back? Have to stamp the handles, braze them on, fold the steel, weld everything..... Then at the end you choose your colour and get your initials on it?
This is going to be pretty slick. I'm in love with that old Indian Flat-head drag-bike! I'd love to custom build myself a bike around a Knuckle-head motor some day. Everyone says the Pan-head was the most beautiful HD engine; I respectfully disagree.
Mmmmmm, someday...
If the quality is decent $500 doesn't seem so bad. It's definitely not something I'd want for professional use or even regular use, but a guy with a small garage who does a tiny bit of wood work here and there, it'd be a great option! Seems really well thought-out.
Sorry if this has been posted before, I searched but didn't see anything.
Has anyone seen this? I have no idea how well built it is or anything, but it's a neat idea for sure!

If you're going to weld aluminum I think you'll need either an AC/DC TIG welder or a MIG welder with a spool gun. I don't know of any other ways to weld it. Are you a machinist? What do you plan on using the grinders for?
Looks good, man! I have an '09 Nightster with quite a few modifications to it. Has an Edelbrock air-filter meant for a car custom fitted onto it, and I built new pipes for it a few years ago. They're fun bikes!
Thanks for the responses, guys! Kazlx, thanks for the offer! I'll just go buy one, though. Shipping it to Canada would be a pain. [emoji14]
The only reason I haven't already bought one is that right now the only horizontal mill I have access to is at school, that's why I said I'll only get 1...
I have a question for you knowledgeable gents: I've been building my bike-repair stand, it's almost ready, but needs a slot cut. Here's an idea of what's going on...
After the slot is cut the portion on the left will be welded on as well, the cylinder in the middle will slide up and down a post...
Polexican, you could probably replace the hex-heads with safety-torx? If you can find them in that size.
Edit:
Safety torx (Torx Security)
Or maybe some 12-point bolts? More likely to find these in that size.
Made this today in some free-time at work. This bearing-puller is made for bicycle suspension bearings, and the end is destroyed so the bike shop where I occasionally work asked me to make a new one. Bought $3 worth of hex-stock (and have half left over)
What threads into it:
The tool...
She's a pure-bred pain in the ***! :P She's a humane society mutt, I'm guessing probably a cross between a shepherd and a smooth collie, but not sure. She has a long cork-screw tail that when it hangs straight touches the ground and is a complete nut.
I've posted pictures of her here a few...
