I cannot imagine cleaning a Wagner power painter with bedliner in it. The heat generated by the piston in mine basically turns latex paint into dried bedliner, as far as cleaning it.

I had to drill a 3" dia hole through a 6" dia fence post the other day. All I can say is that 'cordless tools' and 'hole saws' don't go together at all. I ended up using a ratty old Sears 1/2" corded electric drill and drilled my holes. The 18v DeWalt was useless - truly useless.

Excellent work on a car most wouldn't have tried to save! Can't you just have your painter do clear over the base coat he applied? Or, just scuff the BC and apply single stage, and eat the $$. Unless you shoot the clear, there probably isn't a 'free' way out of this situation.
