Rental of 5 ton AC unit

If you do get the portable AC, turn the ceiling fans OFF. With 16' walls you can keep the lower 8' cooler with the heat rising and not stirring into the lower area. Direct the flow of the AC straight across at 4' high.

Rental of 5 ton AC unit

Looks like supply and return are 14" dia on the side and condenser air inlet on the opposite side with outlet on top. Not meant to be used indoors, just park it outside with duct running to the building like any package unit. 5 tons will help, but with 16' walls, open ceiling, no insulation and...

PVC strapped to a 4x4 would work temporarily. I would advise installing a pressure regulator too.

    Refrigerant leak detectors 2020

The Inficon Dtek I used for many years finally bit the dust. Replaced it with the Inficon Ultrasonic and it works well for refrigerant leaks and a few other things. Biggest problem I have is windy locations (same for heated diode) and electronic noise. Just about blew out my eardrums with the...

    HVAC conundrum

The only way to know if the condenser coil is clean....is when you clean it. You'd be amazed at the dirt I've washed out of what LOOKS like a clean condenser. Is the small copper line (high side) hotter than the ambient temp? Can you check your ductwork for obvious leaks? Is it in the attic? The...

My HVAC guy tells me that my A/C condenser fan has no capacitor

+1 WARRANTY ECM motors will rock back and forth to determine rotation before starting. No external capacitor. I've replaced some walk-in cooler and freezer ECM evaporator motors that would run for a while, then slow to stop, then rock back and forth and spin again for a while.

What is magnetic nut setter for?

I use them on most every service call for hex head screws. Not very useful for nuts except to start them. Most of the time the stud bottoms out . https://www.malcoproducts.com/categories/magnetic-hex-drivers/ These are fantastic.

Plumbing vs. me - and I lost today......

My plumber friend uses tape and thread sealant together. No leaks. "I scramble out to run to the other side of the garage and turn the breaker off." You need a power disconnect at the pressure switch.

    Central AC Repair Questions

Does your condensing unit have a low pressure switch to prevent the compressor from running if the refrigerant has leaked out? Yes = replace evaporator coil. No = replace everything. A flat system will pull in air/moisture if the compressor continues to run. POE oil is hygroscopic. Even changing...
