    Sweet Home 3D

Just wanted to pass along a tip for anyone looking for home/garage design and layout software. Sweet Home 3D is a really good program, and it's free open source software. It's probably more geared towards general home layout and experimenting with remodeling and stuff than a CAD program or true...

    Sears *****

Thanks TO35 for the info, you kind of confirmed my suspicions. I didn't notice if they had center post machines, the one I had 'explained' to me by the snot nose manager was not a center post, but still looked old and beat to sh#t. I suspect it was operator ineptitude as much as anything. I...

What did you do "TO" your garage today?

Re: What did you do to your garage today? I got some unused stuff out of my garage! Gave one coworker a plastic crate for carrying those big water bottles around (extra dirt bike stand for me)...I didn't need it and he actually has his own water cooler at work and carries those big suckers from...

mistakes/regrets/things you hate that you did to your garage

I'm fine doing the wiring, and it's a 20 amp circuit with nothing else on it. The problem is the garage is insulated and drywalled, so I would be tearing into stuff and patching. Plus the house is old enough (1958) where the wiring is still 2 wire, so I'd really like to just gut it and rewire...

mistakes/regrets/things you hate that you did to your garage

If my garage wasn't an already insulated and rocked tuck-under when I bought it, I would have added outlets by now. I'm going to wait until I gut it and rewire the whole shebang. In the mean time, I use extension cords and a retractable cord mounted next to the door opener. Hardly ideal.

Friendly Reminder to go check your tire pressures

As ForceFed reminded us, DO check the spare. Really easy to forget about that.I have one of those lovely space savers, which require quite high psi. The last time I checked it, it was way low. Which reminds me, I should check it again!

What do your Storage Cabinets look like?

I haven't made much progress in my garage, but I scored these 2 office cubicle horizontal cabinets in the local classifieds for $35. I wanted something for this odd catchall corner of my garage to keep **** off the floor and still have room for my snow blower or lawn mower. They fit perfect and...

mistakes/regrets/things you hate that you did to your garage

Like a few others here, I regret buying a house that didn't have the garage I wanted in the first place. We have an awesome location, awesome yard/garden (major work done there), awesome kitchen (I knew I was screwed when she saw it), and a crappy garage. I have done very little to it in 2 years...

    Adjusting garage door torsion springs

To quote Bulldog "I gave up.Its like any job..easier if you know what your doing." I have a buddy that worked for a garage door company, and he has schooled me more than once. He also has tons of horror stories of guys trying to fix doors themselves. I would call a pro and have it done.

Should I install a ceiling fan to help bring the heat down from the ceiling???

I had a condo before buying our current house and the garage was insanely hot in the summer (no attic venting, no windows, and the assoc. wouldn't allow installing them). I put in a cheap ceiling fan from Lowes and it helped quite a bit, just to keep some air moving. One thing, they make...

    Sears *****

Trust me, the wheels did not look like that when it went in the shop. The wheels did have some scratches and were not perfect, but NOTHING like this. Even the other side of the wheel is scraped in a similar fashion, and no curbs can get to those. It's not as bad, but that bead lip is much...

    My garage "HQ"

Very nice garage, and and the 1098 is gorgeous. I'll be looking for updates as the RZ350 progresses. I had a chance to buy a cherry RZ from a friend years ago and didn't...I kick myself every time I see one now...even if it's just a frame and swingarm lurking in the corner:drool:

Here are some closer high res pics. Granted, there were MINOR scratches and curb rash before. I can post pics of the rear wheels that look like the front wheels did pre-Sears. But this is the damage. And if I could get the correct angle and light, you can even see the corresponding scrapes on...

    Sears *****

So it is not directly related to garages, but it is related to cars, which most of you have in your garage. I took my Girlfriend's car into Sears Auto in Bismarck, ND to have 2 new snow tires installed (purchased from Tirerack.com, which rocks). Just the front tires, since I didn't rotate like I...

    Mom's Garage

That has to be one of the coolest looking garages ever. The door opener is...I don't know...I'm at a loss for words on that one:-)

    First-Time Homebuyer's Garage 16x29

Very nice work! If I could suggest a high priority next update, it would be replacing those old garage door springs with a torsion spring. When those old style springs break, and they will, bad things happen. Not worth the risk IMO. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your progress.
