Torx plus - where does it show up?

I see (at least some) tool manufacturers are pumping out Torx Plus bits. The stuff I work on is usually few years old, but I fear eventually I will come across something using these. Not come across them yet. Who is using them, on what?

What size metric wrenches y'all use?

I got up to 36, the shop takes care of sizes up to 75mm. Larger sizes - hydraulic connectors and hoses among other things.

Milwaukee 3/4" Hi Torque- Pin detent

When 3/4" impact wrench does not remove a bolt, I expect a struggle with 3/4" breaker bar and at least 3-4 foot cheater pipe. Frequently something much worse actually. I don't expect to be able to remove the bolts with 1/2" drive 24" breaker bar with one hand. That's what happened with 18V...

Milwaukee 3/4" Hi Torque- Pin detent

I used a brand new wrench like this few weeks ago. There was no "Hi Torque" going on. Only great disappointment. Good 1/2" drive air impact is far more powerful than the unit I used. I removed several bolts with 1/2 breaker bar and relative ease that it didn't budge. Very surprised how gutless...

Drill bits recommendations? for drilling out a broken bolt

Perhaps off topic, but the first, second and third recommendation to remove broken bolts is a welder. Wast majority of broken bolts can be removed with welder with relative ease compared to drilling extracting... Thats how the pros do it day in and day out in the rust belts of the world.

I hate to ask about brand preference, but I will

As far as I know, we don't have any socket tests. No meaningful comparison between brands of any kind -at least not publicly available. We only have great many opinions and at best - anecdotal evidence. Comparing decent chrome sockets isn't easy either for the average user. Without heavy abuse...

Do you want cheap good sockets or do you want "cheap" good sockets made in the US?

Drill bits recommendations? for drilling out a broken bolt

Decent HSS drill bit will do the job. Use slow rotation on the drill and some lube on the bit and good pressure.

    Triple square bits/sockets set

These are fantastic bolt extractors. They bite the bolts quite well and torque vs diameter ratio is about as good as it gets. Last Thursday I used M10 XZN to remove broken 14mm bolt from a blind hole. It was bottomed out and quite stuck. I used my foot on 18" long 1/2" drive ratchet to get it...

I am going to twist this thread a little. :bounce: If you want genuine authority on English you have to go to Iceland. Here is the proof. Raise your hand if you understand this Lord Prayer in "old English" spoken from approximately AD 450 to about 1100...

Couldn't reach the G.J forums around 17.00 GMT, give or take half an hour - tried several times and got the 508 error. Happened to me also 1-2 weeks ago.

Battle of the Bits: PB Swiss vs Zephyr vs Apex

Several major companies make many different types of bits, with different coatings to reduce cam-out, and different shanks. It would take years for someone to compare all the offerings from Wiha, Wera, PB, Apex, Zephyr, Felo, Vessel, Koken, KTC , just to name a few. Let alone all the nameless...
