    proper stainless prep

For stainless you can wipe it with isopropyl alcohol or hit it with a scotchbrite wheel. Aluminum reacts with the atmosphere and creates a very thin very hard layer of Aluminum Oxide on the surface, and when you clean it/prep it/brush it you're removing that layer making it easier to weld...

    My Welding Table

First off, really dig the setup you have. I dream of having the same two machines you have some day, when I can save enough pennies to do so. Both top notch!! That table is awesome as well. Talk about room to work on. I'm actually more curious about the Delta saw in this picture. Do you...

    Looking for new welding helmet

I must be the only Miller fan here? I TIG weld stainless for a living. However, I also weld GMAW/FCAW/SMAW/ and Oxy-Acetylene cut/braze/weld, carbon arc gouge, plasma cut 5 days a week... You name it I do it. I opted for the Digital Elite. Hands down, I L-O-V-E my hood. It's very...

    leveling feet for 2X4 ?

I found Steevo's thread and did the exact same thing on my workbench. I ordered the feet from McMasterCarr. They were expensive, but I wanted something that was going to hold up to abuse. More specifically, "Swivel Leveling Mounts" Part No: 6111K521 1/2"-13 thread in the Black Luster...

    Wilton Vise History

Hello there, The dynamic jaw is seized in the body of the vise. When I brought it home, the U-shaped thrust washer was missing so I was able to unscrew the main handle completely. I'm not sure how badly it's seized or how much force it will take to remove it. My first thought was to soak the...

    Wilton Vise History

Greetings everyone! I am relatively new to this particular forum, not new to forums in general in the least. I acquired an old vise from my Welding Instructor that is need of some serious TLC. Can't complain one bit though when it was free! I'm having a hard time identifying which model it...
